Top selection of dinners with fresh veg and choice of potatoes. Papers available, quick friendly service, parking outside albeit on a meter. Long opening hours including Sunday lunchtime for a cheap and tasty roast.
Excellent value for money overall with quality food.

Review by Rottenpunky

Rating: 4.00
Tags: relaxed, friendly, traditional pub
I have to agree with the last reviewer (Throwa) the Apprentice has come a long way since the change of management. The kitchen is open when it is supposed to be and the food is now edible, though still quite pricey for nothing out of the ordinary. The last few times I have been, there has been a reasonable selection of wines and real ales. Guest ales are naturally popular in summer but they do seem to have Tim Taylor Landlord as a resident pint. There is however only one draught cider but this is the S.O.P in most places.
Many hours can be spent with a good choice of beers on a bench at the river side, and for exactly that reason, there is always competition for a table. Prepare to be patient. And play fair! Only the tables on the patio can be served food, not the ones on the bank, they have to make do with a rather limited selection of bar-nuts.
Parking is limited and for my mind, at least until me and the Mrs choose to Sprog, this is a blessing. People have a misguided habit of bringing their children to a pub that has made absolutely no effort to encourage this. There is no play area and little space for prams.
As the management have no issue with the use of the railings outside, a bicycle is unquestionably the transport of choice. That said the pub is well served by the nearby H37 bus route.
In short, this a traditional riverside pub, sheltered from the breeze by the ait. Perfect for rambling conversations with friends it is let down only by the food tariff. Keep an eye on the tide though, if youâ¬"ve seen two highs or lows, you are probably drunk.
I have to agree with the last reviewer (Throwa) the Apprentice has come a long way since the change of management. It has all of the facilities that you would wish for but none of the pretensions. Straight forward facilities, and plenty of them but most importantly, there is a real community feel here. The five aside and tennis courts that back into Redlees Park are always in use by teenagers who have formed clubs and teams rather than gangs. One lad even called out â¬Soi mister⬠when asking me to throw his ball back over the netting. I grinned for an hour.
The pool is a straight forward 25 metre rectangle with a fixed separator to form a kidâ¬"s area. This is also where the aquarobic classes are held, meaning that swimming is not restricted.

The centre it's self is somewhat dated if Iâ¬"m honest, but the place is all the better for it. Donâ¬"t expect a café or even well stocked vending machines for that matter (thatâ¬"s why it only a 4 out of 5 Iâ¬"m afraid guys, I do need a Mars after a swim) but membership is more than reasonable, as are the non member rates. The result is a centre that is about just getting on with it rather than being full of posers. You can use this place with out the judgment that deters many casal gym users or swimmers. It is welcoming, friendly and old fashioned but offers a decent range of activities and for my mind worth every penny.

PS. I would also recommend the Isleworth chippy; Franks. Great for a post swim cod & chips

Isleworth Rec is just that; a proper local recreation centre. It has all of the facilities that you would wish for but none of the pretensions. It is a short drive from Osterley underground station or from the Syon Lane and Iselwroth mainline stations. Wit the restaurant being part of a hotel, there is ample parking within the grounds for those that drive.

I went here recently with a friend when looking for somewhere to eat in the evening. I had passed it many times before without a second glance. On entering the decor is somewhat dated, however, this should not deter you from taking a table and ordering. The menu is of a good size and there is a good selection for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The service is on par for an Indian restaurant of its type but the food was excellent. We were both very suprised and would definitely eat here againThe Bukhara restaurant is located in the Osterley hotel on the busy Great West Road (A4). They have expanded recently to a deli just down the road branded under the Greedies name as well, which sells again gorgeous little bits and pieces, if you have any room after breakfast! Newspapers are available at the weekend and they have no objection to you settling down to read them as you get through your brunch. It doesn't appear very large from the front but has a conservatory out back for more seating.
