I've been a Brown Sugar customer for some months now, and I've always received the highest level of service. I always notice other customers leaving with a smile on their face, the owner seems to have a great rapport with his customers. Brown Sugar's food is lovely and ooohh so delicious the Jackets are the very best in Harrogate (they've got a proper oven for cooking them to perfection!) Seriously if your on your lunch break go to Brown Sugar it is the best lunch in Harrogate enough said.I've been a Brown Sugar customer for some months now, and I've always received the highest level of service. Without a doubt the worse restaurant in Harrogate, and I believe i must have been to most. Anti pasa cheap rubbish (but expensive) and the pizzas were an embarrasment, unbelievably poor similar to the worse frozen pizzas from a low rent supermarket. First of all, who in the heck took this last person around Harrogate? There are more than two clubs!! There are seven clubs. Some are exclusively for members and harrogate residents only, to prevent all the chavs that are bussed in from Leeds getting in.

But Carringtons is a last resort... unless its Halloween in which case everyone looks about right in there and in all seriousness, then ... and only then... is it a good night out.

You either get the really young goths types or the old ageing rockers in there. And a handful of chavs.

Rather dodgy. Wouldnt use toilets unless you want to be beaten up. A fat woman robbed my blusher last time I was there.

It used to be cool in its day but now its like an outdated living room with stained carpets and ultra violet lights.

If you go when there are bands on its okay... a decent crowd shows up for the rock bands and they are stricter with entrance policies.

Things to watch out for:

Chavs
Druggies
Fat people with too much eyeliner

Stayed overnight at an event, ate dinner there and was blown away. The room was ok (great shower), the owners were lovely, but the steak - brilliant. To start i had pea and champagne soup, followed by a wonderful rare rib eye steak. I've eaten here twice, one a wet wednesday evening and an insanly busy night. On the wednesday my vegetarian wife discovered pieces of chicken in her vegi meal. No discount was forthcoming but they offered a free dessert!
On the very busy night we had booked well in advance but had to wait for our table, after being seated we waited twenty minutes for our drinks order to be taken, a further 20 mins for them to arrive then a further half hour until I had to go and ask at the front desk for someone to take our order "the kitchen is too busy to take your order". The waiter was indifferent to our wait. The food, when it arrived after a further 45 mins was not outstanding but average for a chain restaurant but seemed a little overpriced.
There was a rapid and dismissive apology for the wait. went here for my lunch as a new person in town, the staff were really helpfull, chatty and friendly.

We visited Kinara without recommendation or reading reviews. First impressions were very good, being greeted by a smartly dressed gentleman on arrival, and efficiently shown to our table, even though we had not booked.

We ate three courses, all of which were superb! Service was without fault, and the decor and table decoration was beautiful, with cotton table cloths and polished cutlery.

Our bill was wholly remarkable, when we consider we ate three courses and had several drinks with our meal for Â£35.00. Having deducted the cost of drinks, we paid a mere Â£11.50 per head for our food. Given the extremely high standard of the food and service, this is one seriously impressive venue.

The restarant has 9 maybe 10 tables, and provides an extremely warm welcome.

All in all, very highly recommended! We will certainly visit again when we next travel to Yorkshire, even if we do not stay in Harrogate, this restarant is worth travelling to.

I stayed in this hotel in May as I was attending a conference in the Conference Centre across the road. The location was spot-on! My comfortable double room cost 50 GBP a night and that included breakfast and 3-course dinner. There were no restrictions on what I could chose from the dinner menu. There was a gym but I didn't use it. Don't be put off by the slightly shabby external appearance of this hotel - it was very comfortable and suited my needs. I could only get a weak wireless signal in my bedroom but the connection was much better in the lobby.
