A family run business, always friendly staff, oldest serving pub in Hamilton. Food's classic but always tasty, never any hassle, very comfortable and welcoming! I remember this pub when it used to have more of an atmosphere. It now has the obligatory plasma screens and has painted the walls a lovely cream colour.. They obviosly trying to appeal to a younger clientele, but I think it was better the way it used to be. Only my opinion.I remember this pub when it used to have more of an atmosphere. The Tap Room is very friendly pub with great staff and good clientele.
It gets very busy at the weekends and I now always book a table for dinner as was disappointed on too many occassions. The food is more like that you would find in a restaurant as apposed to a pub!
If you just fancy a drink there is entertaiment nearly every night of the week as well as sport on the large screen tv during the weekend days.

Beware false praise
- this establishment has 2 entries in trusted places - the other is under musthaqs restaurant - there are some quries regarding the legitimacy of the reviews.

What could be easier than just setting up another page with a different name? Rather pointless if the aim is to inform potential customers.Beware false praise

Having been a customer of this establishment for more than twenty years and travel a distance to enjoy their fish teas etc I am afraid to say our last visit will be just that.

Upon ordering our fish teas, my wife who for the past years has ordered two pickled onions with her meal without any problem, was told abruptly ( not by one of the excellent regular waitresses I may add), we don,t sell pickled onions with our fish teas ! since when ?

Sitting there gobsmacked she told us it was more than her job was worth to give my wife pickled onions with fish and chips! but she would ask her supervisor !

Thinking she was having a laugh we debated the silliness of the situation while awaiting our meals.

When the meals arrived, to our astonishment minus the onions, our protests were met with ( I will get ma supervisor then ) who duly appeared at our table and was as adamant and as abrupt as her waitress that she would not serve two pickled onions with my wife,s fish tea !!

Not wishing to take this silly escapade any further we proceeded to start our meal and noticed that two usual items served here, namely, tartare sauce and coleslaw were missing.

When we asked our pleasant waitress about these missing items, we were told we need to ask for them ( don,t think to offer them to the customer upon ordering eh) as they do not serve them on the plate any more because of waste ! two small spoonfuls ?

Upon asking for these items we were brought two large bowls of them which I presume are passed around all the tables ( when you ask for them , that is !) oh dear, very hygienic

So there we have it, Mr Equis, laughable I know, a nice meal ruined by two silly people employed in your establishment, if it were mine I would be concerned.

So I am afraid to say Equis of Hamilton joins the growing list of establishments in Scotland where the customer is the inconvenience between the booking and the paying

Arjun's is a new restaurant in Blantyre. We went there recently as our favourite Indian Restaurant - The Taj Mahal in Almada Street, Hamilton is closed for renovations and soon to re-open as Mustaq's... but I digress. First impression of Arjun's is that it's very modern, very stylish and clean as a whistle. However this detracts from the ambience. Arjun's just doesnt FEEL like an Indian Restaurant. It feels more like a showhouse in an IKEA catalogue. But for my tastes things got off to a good start on discovering Arjun's has Cobra Indian Beer on draft: an essential "side dish" to any curry. The menu isn't too comprehensive, however my request for a dish not on the menu was met with an enthusiastic and genuine "of course, sir" from the very attentive waitress. The starters arrived well presented and tasty but with an air of "nouvelle cuisine" about them ie not very large portions for an evening meal a la carte. The main course was equally sparse, but equally well presented and delicious! The accompanying naan and chapatis were disappointingly presented: cut up into little triangles. Perhaps I'm too set in my ways and traditionalist when it comes to my love of curry, and as such this review may seem a bit pedantic. But to stress the positives..... tasty, well presented food, excellent staff. However I'm afraid our visit to Arjun's was an experiment never to be repeated. The ambience will be attractive to some, the small portions may suit folks who don't over-indulge, the pricing is a tiny bit on the costly side (but not madly expensive). Both my wife and I had a meal at this restaurant
and the next day we were violently sick from food poisoning.
2 weeks later I read in the local paper they were prosecuted for defrosting chicken outdoors under a tarpaulin.
They were then prosecuted for having 7 asylum seekers living in the loft area of the restaurant; again this was printed in the Hamilton Advertiser newspaper.
Needless to say I won't be back.
Both my wife and I had a meal at this restaurant

This used to be a good gym around 4 years ago . The equipment in the gym is old and outdated . Membership fee's are far to high .
Also when you finally realise your being ripped off trying to cancel is a nightmare , 3 months notice then they add on a FURHER ! 22 day's for no good reason .

Have been going to the Taj in Hamilton for years, the best curry house in Hamilton without a doubt, but I have to warn anyone who likes to lunch there, that this is no longer available, we go nearly every Saturday afternoon and imagine our disappointment today when the doors were closed with a sign saying open between 4.30 - 11.00 now only. Beware if you are a vegetarian visiting the Pir as the value for money is way below par.Have just returned from a visit, having ordered a vegetable biryani which was basically rice with peas and gravy. My husband's chicken achari balti was apparently lovely. The Chatelherault Inn is located near the Chatelherault train station. This is a great little restaurant that serves excellent food. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The prices are more than reasonable and they often offer a pre-theater menu before 4pm for an even better deal. I love ordering the penne napoli or the bbq chicken. The portions are a good size for the prices. The desserts are great too a varied selection of ice cream, pies, and cakes. My husband and I had our second wedding reception in their function suite. The suite is free you just have to hire their DJ which is about Â£110. You won't find anywhere else that will do a deal like that. Been looking for a decent coffee shop/ cafe for ages, finally found one for the girls and I to have a fantastic cup of coffee delicious bite to eat.

We've been going on a regular basis now for both sitting in and taking out and i must say the level of service and quality of food is top notch.

So if you're looking for somewhere good to eat in Hamilton, visit Fionda's on Cadzow Street.

Great food! What more needs said.
2 things have changed recently here that has changed my opinion from 5 to 4 stars.
The happiest waiter I have ever encountered, has apparently ditched his wife & kids and run off with another woman back to Greece.
The 2nd, and this'll seem trivial to most people but every time I've been in lately they've had no buttered asparagus! Not normally a big fan but on top of the beef mignons, fantastic.
Not the cheapest place to eat but well worth the money.
Great food! What more needs said.
