My friend works in The Lansdowne so I'm in all the time...and i can tell you that since the manageress has started the chef works until 10 o'clock every night. Last orders for food is 9.30 if its a massive order however! Also check out the new deals...they offer buckets(five bottles)of Estrella or Peroni for Â£10! Bargain! They also have just started a new cocktail list...including pitchers! i went to this fabulous restaurant on saturday night, and i was very pleased with the service i was given at this restaurant, the staff were all so friendly and happy to see you, a very welcoming atmosphere, (which is rare to find), we ordered a starter a main meal and 4 drinks and and the food was amazing the best Indian cuisine i have tried. i honestly recommend a visit to taste there brilliant food and excellent service, and very reasonable prices, i will definitely be back for a visit.

Oh dear, a disappointment. Evening meal of sushi, noodles with sides. The food was ok, but the main of noodles was imbalanced in taste, just the wrong blend of flavours, a very mean portion for the cost too. The sushi rice was old, tasted like it had been sitting since lunch, the crackers were obviously out of a packet and not cooked fresh, come on guys you just got to heat some oil. And the service was polite, but the waiter forgot one of our dishes, but then he didnt use a pad or anything, rather relying on remembering our order, which he didnt, then served us our mains before the starters arrived... come on this is such a fundamental mistake, get the food in order please. And then the other sushi roll we had was dry and bland, again the ingredients weren't crisp and fresh enough in a dish that demands freshness above all others. Prices were a bit odd, some dishes overpriced, some about right. I'd revisit for drinks, but foodwise, so many others do it much better.Oh dear, a disappointment. My girlfriend and I had done some online searching for somewhere for a meal out in Glasgow. One of us is from Edinburgh and the other London and we both enjoy good food at an honest price. We had arrived in Glasgow and still hadnâ¬"t made a decision so we scanned a travel guide and decided the Sisters in Kelvingrove would be worth a shot, its a family run business that cook fresh produce... we were informed by the guide.

Making the reservation was polite and straight forward.... when I called back to change the time of the reservation it was changed with no problems.

The surroundings are simple, Scottish without being garish, well placed tables, white cloths and really nice cutlery and wine glasses. I like the details when I go out, they had it just about right, very smart but relaxed.

There was a set menu (also worth checking the web site of calling to find out whatâ¬"s on the menu etc) for Â£17.95 for which I had a started mackerel with beetroot and greens starter. Roasted chicken, roasted potatoes and vegetables for main course and for desert I had a melting hot chocolate pudding with liquor oranges and a blob of marmalade ice cream. It was all very good. The hot dishes were served hot which is always a good start for me. The part I was most intrigued about was the desert, i am a sucker for anything chocolate for desert but the melting pudding was cooked to a near perfection. That wasnâ¬"t the bit I had been waiting for; I wanted to know if they could carry off Marmalade Ice Cream. The subtle tinge of Marmalade that had been made creamy left me in no doubt it was marmalade but didnâ¬"t dominate the creaminess of the ice cream. I didnâ¬"t think I would eat the orange liquor slices but in TV critic fashion I pilled the chocolate pudding, marmalade ice cream and a piece of the orange on my spoon and tried it all together, it really was good.

My girlfriend who is a self confessed foodie and whose father was in the restaurant business was going to be more critical than me, I suspected. She had scallops for starter, a fish medley and vegetables and potatoes main course and for desert bread pudding with a drizzle of custard and a blob of creamy ice cream. It was all good, the scallops made her smile, the fish medley kept her yumming and enjoying. The bread pudding was good but possibly a smidge bland. Her overall rating was a good 7. I would have gone for a 7-8. We had a good bottle of wine and a coffee and paid about Â£60 which felt good. If youâ¬"re after a good experience and you appreciate locally sourced foods cooked well and with attention to the detail then give it a go. They have another restaurant in the Jordan Hill area of Glasgow that has an identical menu (I have not tried it yet).

Although not up to it's edinburgh version, this is still a good mexican given the lack of them in the town.

Tend to catch the tail end of thier lunch deals at 5.30 and they are good value and have never been disapointed.

Looks like a dodgy cafe from outside. But don't let the formica tables plastic table cloths worry you. some of the best Chinese/Malay food anywhere. portions too huge so share them two dishes between three still left plenty.

Just to balance the dodgy review below (see comment). This used to be the best indian in town before it's off shoot , wee curry shop, took the mantle for me.

Dishes are off the wall, non standard, indian fusion foodand the standard is always high. Always good for a change from the standard fare.

If I'd one fault it's that it's dificult to share food between diners, sometime of the charm in indian food, as the food is often plated up rather than on serving dishes. But it's a minor fault.

Don't know what happened to the last reviewer or whether they have an agenda, but The Wee Curry Shop has never failed to delight the many friends and customers I've brought there over the years. The most recent last week had 5 curry fans from Birmingham raving about the quality of the food. It's simple but just tastes fresh and full of flavour. Veggie options were excelent too with the mutter paneer a standout.

I eat out a lot with work and across a wide variety of restaurants and food types and would rate this the best Indian food by some margin and for value for money, best restaurant full stop. Don't come for the decor though and it is tiny so best to book.

Set at the road fork of Pollockshaws Road and Kilmarnock road this pub/restaurant is ideal for anyone living in the area, it offers real ales alongside the normal draught and also offers a range of cocktails. Unlike most bars in Shawlands they actually serve tenants as well. Set over two levels and two bar areas there is plenty of seating for both diners and sociable drinkers alike, and the different areas means that even this large busy pub can feel intimate and cosy when you are enjoying a quite drink and a catch up. This was one of my favourite restaurants when I studied in Glasgow between 1998 - 2002. When I returned in Feb08 I was grossly disappointed with the food. The red thai curry the only thing I would class as edible, everything else was almost tasteless. Also, the staff reacted very poorly to my constructive feedback. I would not recommend this and will never be returning. :-(This was one of my favourite restaurants when I studied in Glasgow between 1998 - 2002. Visited early evening, around 6pm on a weekday. Very quiet, just a few others there whilst we dined. Lovely building, and interior space, a smaller bar/entry spcae opens into a large-ish vaulted dining area. Staff were very polite and very attentive. We had starters and mains, a selection of sashimi, tempura, gyoza, and noodle courses for our mains. The food was ok, sometimes good. The sashimi was very disappointing, i have this whenever availble at japanese restaurants and here the assortment and portion was far too meagre compared to what other restaurants give. The tempura was good, a little too greasy, but ok, the noodles were cooked perfectly and the veg etc also cooked perfectly, though the sauce was rather flat and reliant on salt for its flavour, lacking depth. Drinks were chilled and perfect though. Although plum wine, the lady's favourite seemed only available by the bottle not glass :-(â¬¨Overrall a 7/10. Surroundings and staff great, but food a bit lacking, marginally better than some japanese places, but nowhere near as good as i know japanese food can be. Also too many dishes on the menu, they would be far better doing less better than more and compromising on quality.â¬¨Lastly the toilets, only the ladies' visited, and apparently were shabby and no toilet paper at all!Visited early evening, around 6pm on a weekday. However it is in it's latest guise as a carvery that is is reviewed. The main sign is the head turner at Â£3.50/main course during the week and Saturday rising Â£3 for a Sunday. I have now visited this on 2 occasions with family and both times have had to wait for a table due to the popularity of the place. Generally filled with families given the budget busting price. It works as 1 visit to the Carvery for meat but as many visits for veggies. I have yet to be disappointed at the quality of the food and have not had to make a return visit for veggies given the amount you can pile on during the first visit. This is one of those restaurants that is attached to an Innkeepers Lodge Hotel and so is frequented during the week largely by business people. My visits have mainly been at the weekends with family or friends. The place itself is very welcoming especially if it is a winters day and you can sit next to the open fire. The menu has plenty of choices for everyone and will suit all tastes and appetites. On all occasions the staff have been pleasent and welcoming when ordering food which is done by noting your table number and placing your order at the bar. There are only 2 downsides - the toilets are upstairs and the portions could be increased to match thoses when it first opened. However my in-laws visited it one night and the following Sunday we visited the place ourselves. The inside is very well laid out with a decent amount of room between tables - always important if it is a romantic occasion. There were no particular offers on at the time of our visit so we used the main menu. 4 adult and 2 kids all ordering different items and we can have no complaints about the food or the quantity. Pizza Hut - what can be said? This is always a good bet when the family are hungry and want to eat out. We've visited this on numerous occasions and can have no complaints. The staff are helpful although then can be a bit rushed off their feet during the busy times which can be frustrating if you want to order quickly. The buffet is always value for money and provides enough choice for the majority of people and even manages to balance the healthy option from the salad bar. The main attraction for the kids is the Ice Cream Factory. And even better is that until the end of October 2008 you can use Tesco Deals tokens.Pizza Hut - what can be said? Being a couple that don't get out much although that it more to do with loving being with our kids rather than anything else we managed to sneak in a meal here just after Valentines Day. Having decided at the last minute to organise and having no joy with anywhere in Glasgow we stayed local and they were able to fit us in no problem. The restaurant secluded down an alley off the Main Street and could be easy to miss however once inside the place is warm, welcoming and intimate and the staff were extremly helpful and pleasant. The food though was the best bit and we have never enjoyed a meal so much and were pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived. Di Maggio's is a great Italian, a short detour down a signposted lane from the busy Byres Road. It is, like Di Maggio's other branches, quite tightly packed with the maximum number of tables, so perhaps not the best place for planning a secret plot or an intimate marriage proposal. It tends to be busy during evenings and weekends, a sign of its popularity. The staff have always been friendly and funny and the service pretty good. It's not haut cuisine, but the menu is extensive, including vegetarian options and interesting salads.
