It was many years ago since I graduated from Strathclyde, however I remember its union very well. The biggest and definitely the best place for students in Scotland, I think, the Strath Union has an amazing seven floors of entertainment. This isn't really the place for great food - but drinks, definitely. Too many drinks promotions to count these days, and with some huge name bands on the line up for special occasions, it's a damn good night out if you're lucky enough to know someone who can get you in! This isn't just for the younger ones, too - most of the students here are in their twenties, so even if you're passed university, don't be afraid to give it a go if you still know folk who attend.It was many years ago since I graduated from Strathclyde, however I remember its union very well. 13th Note is somewhere I often go for dinner and a drink before going to a gig in the nearby Barrowlands. The restaurant area in the back is usually pretty busy but Iâ¬"ve always managed to get a table as soon as I arrive. The menu is all vegetarian with a lot of vegan options too and the food is simply wonderful. My favourites are the potato, mozzarella and broccoli croquettes, the burgers (theyâ¬"re lovely) and the cheesecake (also lovely, extremely lovely). Prices are very reasonable and service always seems to come with a smile. Well, what can I say...Burley is one of the greatest club nights I ever been to. What a spectacle!

I have to say, I was very impressed by the authentic looking strippers they laid on the last time I was there. I was dying to be cuffed and truncheoned by one (or both) of them, but they fled empty handed, and by God I had something to put in their hands.

Anything goes here allegedly, and you'll be glad of the darkness when you see some of the flamboyant leather pouches (and leather paunches) on display.

Other club nights are available. Sometime soon......

If you like comedy then you will love the stand. They have open mic nights and new talent nights and although everyone up there isn't the next jimmy carr or eddie izzard they can provide a fair few laughs and try their best to entertain the audience. The bar staff are friendly and efficient and the stand itself is clean and well presented. It is a bit like walking into a cave when you first enter as it is dark and cavernous. This is a great place to hear the burgeoning talents of glasgows up and coming comedians. Makes a change from going out drinking or dancing and sometimes is a great way to be entertained socially and escape from the rigours of real life.If you like comedy then you will love the stand. the garage is a large upbeat club with a good variety of music styles and a few different bars to keep up with the number of people through the doors. It is always busy after about 11pm and the massive dancefloor is usually packed from end to end. There is some seating but unless you plan ahead and get there early it can be hard to find some free. Drinks are reasonably priced but price on the door expensive particularly for non students (though free passes can sometimes be picked up from some of the bars nearby). A good night out if you like to dance but it is definately better with a group of friends. Too many schoolkids in this place, they should get some better bouncers, or examine ID's more carefully. The drinks are not too bad though, and the place is quite big inside. They play alot of dance music, so not good if you're not into that genre. Not really that good for over 20's, but have unders nights alot if you are really young. No alcohol at these however. I would say there are better places in town really, avoid if you wan't a more mature atomosphere. Very good place if you like variety with your music. Drinks are usually Â£1 or less, shooters usually 50p, and they often have live bands there performing a variety of genres of music. Split over several floors, each one having something for everybody to enjoy. However there are usually large queues, in fact some people go there early in the day so they can get in. If you can't get in though, theres plenty of alternatives around. Usually this only happens on a saturday, so go on a weekday to avoid queues. Jongleurs is a brilliant venue for comedy in glasgow. They regularly have big names, for example jimmy carr was on a few weeks ago, and the prices are fair for what you get. Also situated near the cinema, in case you have some time to kill before the show. Never usually a queue outside, so you should have no problems getting in. Go when the magners comedy festival is on, they have alot more big name stars, and in general more shows on. Also theres just a general bar next door incase you don't get in. Private club of the Royal Air Force Association. Not quite sure if you can get in if you're not a member or signed in by one. If it's the sort of place you'd go to, then you'll know!
