This is a tiny, bustling cafe on the busy Hyndland Road in Glasgow West End. In the evenings and weekends it can be a bit of a squeeze to get a seat, but if you turn up when its quiet and secure one of the booths framed in unusual carved wood, its a delightful spot. In summer, there are seats outside and they through open the front windows to let a cool breeze through. The music is sometimes a little loud and dodgy radio stuff, which is a bit of a draw back. But the coffee is decent and the staff are friendly. Hot drinks come with a piece of tablet (a Scottish confectionary like fudge). This place made me laugh! The decor is higgledy piggledy, and seems to have been thrown into the room in a mad hurry! Nothing matches, but at least it is comfy. I'd liken it to going around your mad aunt's for a cup of tea or a coffee! Talking of which, the coffee is superb. As is the tea! You actually have quite a large selection to choose from and all taste delicious. I think the decor may put some people off, especially now they have lost the beautiful view they previously had though a huge building recently being erected! Service has lost them one star, because although its great to be relaxed, i'm still a customer and expect to be served!This place made me laugh! This branch is part of a chain of many coffee shops in Glasgow. The place is always quite busy with lots of mums and children as well as non parents and it seems very popular. Selection of toys and lots of room for prams. The food can be a bit hit and miss and the coffee can be too bitter for my tastes. I find the prices can be high compared to other chains but not as consistent in quality whenever I have been. Although the music is quite interesting it can be played at deafening levels at times - way too loud for a chat. After a walk around the Rouken Glen Park and a good run around the children's playground it is nice to stop for a quick break and a snack at this child friendly and welcoming cafe. The cafe offers the usual selection of coffees and teas as well nice home made looking cake selection. There is also a choice of hot meals - the usual cafe fare but still quite tasty. The walls are lined with lots of interesting paintings available to buy. The high chairs are available and there is also a changing area plus some room for buggies. It can get busy at weekends. A little bit of Italy on crow road - nip into this wee cafe for a lovely cappuccino, delicious home made ice cream, or a hand made milk shake. There's a standard lunch menu - although bear in mind portions are generous :-) Soups are hot and home made. It's good that Cranberry's has the name that it does - because it works very well! The food served here does tend to focus on the "cranberry" side of the palate - rather posh mixtures of light and fruity foods which, although a little unusual, are as lovely as they look on your plate. The traditional favourites are here, too, but you'll want to sample some of their excellent alternatives such as soups and sandwiches, especially earlier in the evening when it's a bit quieter. Cranberry's fits into Merchant's City very well, and unfortunately so does its prices, which are a tad steep for regular dining. However it's certainly worth it if you're looking to impress or just enjoy a different, more upmarket, kind of dining. Rounding it off is the lovely building which appears modern but maintains its traditional atmosphere, too. What a fabulous cafe this is! I absolutely adore this place. It's very quirky and different and interesting. The music they play is good, the atmosphere is friendly and lively, there are lots of little trinkets stuck in the walls, there is art on display, big comfortable sofas (although you're lucky if they're free to sit on), and yummy cakes. The menu is so interesting because of the imaginative names they've given their sandwiches (a Stoofa with cheese, Woman from Iran, Child of the Goat, and Drown the Witch are all favourites). I end up picking what I want just by the name rather than the filling, because I'm guaranteed that no matter what I choose it'll be delicious. I love Moyra Janes. It's a small but busy cafe in Pollokshields. The decor inside is a bit dated but who cares when the food is this good? They have a relative small but innovative menu with loads of vegetarian options. They make gorgeous sandwiches and their cakes are irresistible. The staff are always friendly and quick to serve you. And the prices are really reasonable too, so itâ¬"s great to go to escape the office for your lunch hour. The only thing Iâ¬"d consider changing is the old carpet, it makes the place look a wee bit dated but to be honest thatâ¬"s part of its charm.I love Moyra Janes. Rating: 4.00Smaller brother to the larger restaurant in town. This has the same quality food, just a smaller restaurant. The menu is identical. I don't think I would travel here just to eat, but it is ideal for people living in the West End, or visiting the university. They also do a good carry out service, so again ideal for university people on the way home to pick up some freshly cooked Japanese food. I only rate it 4/5 (5/5 for the bigger restaurant) simply because the atmosphere is not as good as the bigger brother, as it is nowhere near as lively. It does hot food like pannini type things and other savouries which are actually okay but really you want to be in for the dessert - ice cream. You have have it straight up and simple. You can have it in a wafer. You can have it as a sundae. You can have it with chocolate fudge cake. And yes I have tried it almost anyway possible. I will often take a tub home with me too. It is so much better than anything you will get in the supermarket - rich and creamy. The price is reasonable - you would rather take this home than Hagen Dazs - seriously. Try it and see if you agree. Like I said, the savoury is average. The place gets its status from the ice cream.with the other review. This place has the best italian ice cream - I think it is in one of the 500 places to see/eat before you die. The best flavour to go for is original. I can't describe the taste. It is soo unique from anything else I have tasted here or in Italy even. It is an old family recipe and has not changed one jot in the 20 or so years I have been coming here. I have never sat in but you can. I don't take the sauce - I want the ice cream pure and unadultered. The price is good and won't break your bank. There is a park nearby if you want enjoy your cone in peace and harmony though the area itself is not really great. I love this place, my partnerâ¬"s kids love this place and my parents love this place! It really is that good and caters for all age ranges, young, old and families. It is a relaxed coffee shop which can be enjoyed day and night 7 days a week. It not only has a wide range of coffees, teas, soft drinks and the most amazing hot chocolate but also has a wide range of freshly made paninni, larger meals and cakes to chose from. By night you can "bring your own bottle" and enjoy your meal with something a wee bit stronger than coffee. The staff are friendly and always have a smile for you when you walk in. I really am a huge fan of this place as it is not like your other coffee shops that are large chains, expensive and the staff look miserable to be there, this place has something different, relaxed and laid back. I love going here with the family or on my own with a good book. If you're visiting the city this should be on the list but near the bottom. It's no big deal if you miss it, it's just a tea room.

I've been here a couple of times, each time it's been packed by the geriatric tourist crowd. Despite this I think it's worth visiting. This place has great decor, it's very refreshing to get a good cup of tea and shortbread somewhere that doesn't have the same inoffensive bland furniture as everywhere else.

I love the Mackintosh style and this is one of the best places to see how it can work in an entire room rather than just in individual pieces.If you're visiting the city this should be on the list but near the bottom. It's no big deal if you miss it, it's just a tea room.

The staff are not particularly friendly and the owners had an argument in front of me over my coffee order. I was glad to be taking it away.

I bought a fruit scone (no butter or jam) to take away - wouldn't have minded paying Â£1 for it if it had been home made, but I watched as the lady took it out of the Morrison's pack of 4 for Â£1.

Great tapas bar (s). I agree with the previous reviewers that the one in the West End is the superior, not that there's anything particularly wrong with the City Centre branch, but the one just tucked below and behind Byres Road has a particularly nice atmosphere. As with all tapas restaurants, the thing to do is split a variety of dishes between you all and the waiters seem helpful enough assisting your choices. The tables are a little small, but I can't fault the decor which is carved wood and decorated brocade. Don't forget the patatas bravas!Great tapas bar (s). Inspired by the tea shops opened by Miss Cranston almost 100 years ago, and famously decorated by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, this tearoom is in fact part of Glasgow's Bradfords bakers. The cafe is located above a baker's shop and is decorated in a modern, slightly minimalistic style with the occasional reference to Mackintosh.

It offers a wide selections of cakes, teabakes and bakery items, as well as a surprisingly reasonable selection of main meals. Of particular note are tea/coffee and cake specials, which can often be less than two pounds. Staff can be very busy but always pleased to help you. Drinks are a wee bit expensive, although the "business lunch" deals laughingly cheap. So you cannot begrudge a few pence extra on the drinks. For the lunches you have three choices, the real cheapie one (very limited options), middle of the range (bit more option), and the top of the range (full range of curries). The lunch is three courses not including tea or coffee. First time I ate here was a few years ago and I was asked to leave mid way through my meal as flat upstairs had sprung a leak and the kitchen was being affected. This did not put me off as the food was too tasty. The only problem I can think of is due to the lack of parking but this is a problem for a lot of areas in Glasgow. Staff are usually busy but always friendly. Competitively priced meals with good sized servings. Menu is varied. From breakfasts (which are extremely delicious) to lunches and light snacks.
