I have just read the only other review for Otto and was amazed by their feedback - amazed that it was good!. I went there on sunday for lunch. The place was pretty quiet - maybe about 6 tables of people. I agree the ambience is nice and it's impressively decorated.
HOWEVER, this is the only thing I would agree on.The service was TERRIBLE. It took 15 mins for the waitress to take our food order which would normally be ok but the hunger levels were high and the place wasn't busy at all.
50 minutes later after ordering ( 4 burgers and chips- not difficult) there was still no sign. We asked the waitress and she advised there was 1 order in front of us and then we were next. We happened to be sat near the kitchen door and saw that the aforementioned order come out, 10 mins later another couple of dishes came out - not for us. We then asked again, this time speaking with a man who I think was the only guy serving the drinks. His response was they were about 5 mins away and he could only apologise. He just kept repeating that there was nothing he could do but apologise. Even if he'd given us an explanation (ie. only 1 chef, short staffed etc) that would have helped. At one stage one of the kitchen staff sauntered out and sauntered back in again with a bag of Foccacia from the shop down the road.
We ended up walking out (drinks were not charged for). As we walked from the back of the pub we passed a booth where that table had obviously given up the wait but their food had just arrived and was sitting there.
I think the reason the other reviewer got free food was perhaps that someone else had waited too long and walked out. I'm sure someone on sunday afternoon had some free burgers. !!

I just discovered this place Mono. It's fantastic. i've been living in London for years and just came back. Great food - best veggie curry I've had in ages - Glasgow is still curry capital! And the CD store is just tooo..oo good. Came away with an armful of CDs I wasn't planning on buying, but what the heck. Sorry I missed the gig last Sunday. I heard from a pal that it was amazing - packed to the rafters and a great atmosphere. The place is under new management as well, so I hope they can keep up the great service. A great place to hang out during the day or night - free wireless broadband, great food, really friendly staff, music for the fans - if you've never been, get along there! One of the best in a crowded part of town for bars and food these days.

I love this pub and the fact that it caters to all tastes with the high end stuff, the homebrew and the fizzy keg all there.

Food doesn't disapoint and fish and chips one of the best in town.

wish it was closer to town but worth a trip out for it's own sake anyway.

A laid back and relaxed atmosphere during the week and day time with a more up beat exciting feeling at night when it gets really busy. The live two piece band on a Friday night are excellent and play a wide range of rock music to suit all tastes young and old. The balcony above the bar area provides a chilled out area when the downstairs bar is busy or somewhere to get a great view of the live band or football game that is showing. As this pub is right next to the train station it's ideally placed for a drink before travelling. It overlooks St George's Square and is a large venue. It used to be a bank which I'm assuming accounts for the name. For all its size though it can still be difficult to get a table.

It's part of the Wetherspoon's chain and as such prices are cheap and they serve the usual Wetherspoon's food. A burger and a pint, or glass of wine for under a fiver is certainly cheap. They have large screen tvs showing the news with sub-titles and often run drink promotions. If wine is your drink, there's plenty of choice here.

The ladies loos are downstairs and on my visits have been clean and tidy.

The Butterfly and Pig is lovely and mismatched but in a trendy kind of way. Everything is heavy wood and sumptious old-fashioned sofas, with great fabric wallpaper, it makes you feel like you have stepped back in time leaving your worries firmly in the present. It attracts a lively crowd who don't take themselves too seriously and always tends to be pretty full, which is a good sign, but can leave you without a seat. Prices are reasonable. Monday night they run an original pub quiz, in fact the format varies from week to week, but its good fun and a bit more interesting than your standard 'what's the capital of...'. The food is definitely better than your average pub grub, with a mix of Scottish, Mexican and standard dishes, including several vegetarian options. They serve lunches and dinners for the same price, all between Â£6 and Â£8 for plentiful portions. They sometimes have live music and of courses, there's all the usual things, like good beer, football, music, passable toilets. A good place for visitors to Glasgow and local alike to know about or stumble upon.This is the kind of bar where lots of different types seem to feel at home. If you have ever been to a Weatherspoons before, you will know exactly what to expect. The drinks are the same, the food is the same - everything is the same! Except the staff however - this company appears to have an exceedingly high turnover of staff - possibly due to being sacked for being so flipping rude to the customers - me in particular! This isn't the first Weatherspoons i've been to where i have been treated with contempt, but its going to be the last because i'm going to avoid the Weatherspoons chain like the plague. The Bon Accord is a very long established traditional real ale pub. I hate real ale and so does my husband but that doesn't stop us from visiting it. It has always been right up there when it comes to any new foreign beers being introduced, which my husband does like. The pub does a roaring trade in plain and simple home cooked bar food. This venue is located on Byers Road in the West End of Glasgow. It's a bit funny arriving at the Oran Mor and taking a look at the historical outside knowing that inside you are going to see a gig. The building itself, an old church, is beautiful and unique as far as music venues go. Gigs are held in the basement and the space is pretty small and intimate similar to King Tut's. Since the venue is located in the west end there's no chance of pint throwing into the crowd here. The sound quality is really good and most anywhere is a good place to see the band from. Sleazy's is a one-of-a-kind pub in Glasgow. This is where the cool kids hang, I mean not trendy emo types (ok, there are a few) but the genuinely cool people who are into their music and just want to have a good time.

It's always busy on weekends but the atmosphere stays good however many bodies are packed in. Just don't expect to get a seat! The jukebox is one of the best in Glasgow in my opinion - it has stuff you will not hear anywhere else. I always spend about an hour choosing songs, which can get infuriating.

The drink selection is fairly good. I would recommend the black or white russians at only Â£2, but don't drink more than two or three of the white ones or you'll feel a bit sick. The food in here is really good, much better than you'd expect. It's veggie heaven and a lot of the dishes are vegan also. The sweet potato burrito and veg lasagne are to die for, and don't forget to order a portion of curly fries.

Nice and Sleazy's is more of an institution than a bar really. They even have their own t-shirts in various designs, all very cool. This is the type of venue where you can go for a good time - you might not recognise all of the bands which play here, but it's always a good experience, nonetheless. I wasn't lucky enough to see any of the now big name bands play here, but I did see Biffy Clyro relatively recently, who are now making their way up the rock charts. The venue is strangely half-underground, and is a little bit small for my taste, but the sound quality is pretty good and the little bar provides a good stream of drinks to last you the night. The location is what does it for me - really close to numerous transport links so it's brilliant for finding your way home after a noisy night out. Big Slope is in a kind of funny place, stuck right between the West End and town, but this doesn't stop it from being pretty busy most of the time.

It's a great place to come for a drink any time of year - on sunny days the beer garden catches many hours of sunshine; in the winter there's a lovely fire to crowd round. However, the main reason I usually come here is the food. It's really, really good. The menu's not huge, but there's something for everyone on it, and notably quite a few veggie dishes. The super-thin based pizzas, grilled halloumi in a burger bun and butternut squash curry are worth mentioning, and the salad is always drizzled with the most beautiful tasting balsamic vinegar. And don't get me started on the puddings... rich, huge portions, brilliant comfort food.

For me, the only downside to this bar is the taxidermy... but the rest of the decor is lovely and it's easy to avoid looking at the dead stuff when the handsome James McAvoy lookalike is working! Mmmmm.

Pivo Pivo is a great wee pub. Slightly hard to find as it is downstairs from street level, but keep an eye out as you walk west along waterloo street from central station. No natural light means itâ¬"s not the most well-lit place, but more than makes up for that with a fantastic array of beers from around the world. Granted, they are not for those drinking on a budget, but where are you going to get beer from Japan, USA, Belgium, Hungary, Mexico, Chile, Germany, France, Brazil (not to mention Britain!), etc all on the same night? That isnâ¬"t even half the countries available!
Occasional sports on the big screen too.

The Primary is a weird one - it attracts a mixed bag of clientele, from older genetlemen, to students and business types. A great venue to watch the football, and a huge beer garden helps to draw in the punters. The food is just above wetherspoons standards, and the pool table is terribly expensive at Â£1.50 a game, but the beer is pretty good and they have a fantastic selection of drinks available.
