Rating: 4.00I was pleasantly surprized by this bar, not much to look at on the outside, but very nice and clean on the inside. Good clean toilets and absoloutely no bother. I spent a few days in here with my friend who is from the local area. The bar staff and locals are friendly and the beer was good; it is just a shame they don't do real ales. By far and away the best bar in Springburn. One person attempted to come into the bar and sell items, they were sent out by the manager within a minute of entering. Rating: 5.00i have always liked hunters bar and resturant i understand it has changed owners about 3 times since it opened and it has always been a nice family frendly place to go, we even booked in there last christmas with a party of 7 for chritmas dinner and we had a lovely time, i have never been dissapointed with a meal i have chossen at hunters, staff are freindly and cheerful and on a summers day its great to sit out at picnic tables and there is a play park for the wee one .

Many will know this place as Bar Buddha, I have recently moved to the area and have been using this pub as my local. From the outside it looks like a gorgeous old church but on the inside it is relaxed with no harsh lights and modern decor. There is a TV at the top of the entrance stairs so you donâ¬"t miss any football while outside soaking up the sun in the beer garden or smoking. The seating is in two levels with the lower level in front of the bar having view to all three flat screen TV's (ideal for football)the second level has a mix of relaxed couches and more formal seating for meals. The menu is wide ranging and will suit most pallets covering pub grub favourites and some more "fancy" dishes. The staff are friendly and helpful and can offer you a wide range of drinks including cocktails. Odd and quirky are two words that apply to this place. It is like sitting in your grandma's - if you grandma had mismatched cutlery. It is kind of Alice in Wonderland. Confused - you will be when you see the menu. It takes a while to work out what you are reading and then think about it as food! Crazy but the food is great and friends and work colleagues keep coming back here for lunch. The food is fresh and the staff really seem to know the menu - which is great given how confusing it is to read. I have not had desserts here but if the main course portions are anything to go by they are probably huge! It's hard to imagine Byres Road without Oran Mor now but it has actually only been open for a few years. The Brasserie is an excellent and upmarket restaurant; the bar is large and better during the day than at night, when it can be a bit neddy, the club is retro and full of 30-somethings. Many people have their wedding receptions here, including Simon Pegg of Spaced and Shaun of the Dead fame, who was married here with Gwynneth Paltrow and Chris Martin as guests (and some other people, presumably). Had a great night at Tiger Tiger,only criticism was that the restaurant were slow in serving meals,however after mentioning that we had been waiting for some time,the staff offered free drinks for the table and 10% off the bill at the end of the night. So it's a hot summers day and you decide to go for a walk on the West Highland Way. Well before you cross the road for heading to Drymen, don't. Turn left and head for the Carbeth Inn, approximately another 10 minutes walk. It's definately a biker's bar (but do not be put off by that) as well as a walker's bar, and a variety of families and couples pop in as well. Good variety of meals and snacks are served. Prices are slightly higher than average but it made acceptable by the quality of the food. Plenty of seating inside, which is surprisingly bright considering the age of the building. Tables and benches for drinks and food are available outside. No great turn over of staff as it is such a well established Inn, so the staff are very friendly. The Kirky Puffer is just to the side of the canal, just as you are coming into Kirkintilloch. Part of the Weatherspoon chain of pubs, this is one of the better ones. Like many of Weatherspoons it is on the dark side, why are most of the pubs in buildings with so few windows? That aside it is clean. Usual selection of drinks and meals here. Essentially if you have been in one Weatherspoon you have been in them all - same drinks, same meals. What makes this pub so special is it's location. If you are walking along the canal from Glasgow or from further north, say Auchenstarrie and you are getting near Kirkie and needing a reviver. Then you almost trip over it. My wife and I ate here on it's opening day. Should have been by invite only, we walked in thinking it was a normal day. Kind staff explained it was by invite only but some people had not turned up, so we got free food and drink. Always the best kind. Open early for breakfasts, which are served quickly and are not swimming in grease. Usual lunch and evening menus. Specials available during the day for those buying two main meals from a limited selection. Sunday roasts are available but be warned the serving is enormous. Excellent price. Nice n Sleazy is located on Sauchihall street in the centre of Glasgow. He has a good atmosphere and caters for the rock / alternative music tastes. There is a good firendly bar upstairs and lots of gigs held in the room downstairs. Lots of small bands start out playing in the room downstairs and this may give you the chance to see the stars of tomororw. Good place to hang out with friends any day of the week. The Old Smiddy is the pub for a drink after an Autumnal/Winter stomp in Linn Park. You can get to Old Castle Road via the bridge from Linn Park. To me (during the day and early evening) it is a friendly local pub catering for all. Typical Glasgow local pub but with character. Have to admit I've never been during late evening/night-time. Clean and tidy toilets, well for the ladies anyway, not sure about the gents. Hubby says they are okay. Very reasonably priced drinks, have never eaten here so cannot make comment. I spent quite a lot of my time was spent in this pub in the last year as I adjusted to life at Glasgow University. It is a very open and friendly pub with a good selection of drink as well as food. There are a few pool tables and generally everyone is in high spirits. A couple of criticisms that I would have is that the prices tend to be a bit more expensive that some of the other pubs in the area, but not by much. Also the music can be a little loud at times. When I was youngerI used to meeting fellow students here for a few and it is still going strong. Don't think it has changed since the 70's, or not that I have noticed. Best place in the city centre for a decent pint and a chat. Place can fill up fast, staff are friendly but usually busy. Upstairs you can get a meal, off the top of my head 3 courses for Â£5.20?, something really silly and really cheap. For starters soup is a must, lovely old-fashioned homemade soup (alternatives are available), well for main it has to macaroni cheese with chips (lets not forget the processed peas), and lastly well for pud what else ice-cream. If you are looking for decent honest grub with a pint or a tea go upstairs in The Horseshoe. But be warned the queues are unbelievable. The queue can run down the stairs and outside. This pub is located in the centre of Glasgow and is in a really good location just off George Square with Queen Street station and Buchanan St Subway just under 100m away.

The architecture is impressive- high roof and painted ceilings, but as the previous review mentioned it can make it a bit cavernous and makes it a less lively and a bit of a muted atmosphere as the noise gets lost.

Despite this it is a busy pub and has a huge bar. At busy times it can be a drama to get served. As with all wetherspoons outlets, you get a cheap pub meal in there no problem- standard pub food but it is good. The Polo Lounge is "undeniably the busiest and best gay club in Scotland" - I used to come here with my gay flatmate when I was a student, and popped back in during a recent trip to Glasgow to see how the old place has changed... Thankfully not too much!

It is still eclecticly decked out, with four different area - the tops bar (which looked like is has pool tables now??!) the ground floor - big bar and comfy seating, and two dance areas. They have an amazing list of ales (which is the reason I was dragged back here week after week by my ale guzzling boyfriend!) I'm not a ale drinker - but it was an impressive list!

The decor was questionable, though vastly improved by a refit a few years back. It always had a slight 'tang' to the air - lets hope that hasn't been added to too much by the smoking ban.

Probably a great bar for what it is - but not really my type of thing... Come here for beer and conversations with the locals - steer clear if you're looking for a flirtini! ;)

Great bar - very busy with a great atmosphere.

Have only eaten here a couple of times - try the traditional 'French' fries (did you know they originated in Belgium??) with creamy mayo to soak up the Leffe. For less of a snack the Cassolets are fantastic, soak up the sauce with hunks of crusty bread.

In summer head out to the grassy hill at the back to soak up whatever rays of sun the Scottish summer presents!Great bar - very busy with a great atmosphere.

Oh, back in the days of student life I spent a lot of time - and a lot of my student loan here! (Although I should clarify that is due to quantity of - rather than price of drinks ;)

Providing a handy stop point between the bars of the West End and the town, Uisge Beatha is always busy and has a lively atmosphere. I believe it has a good range of whiskeys and ales but this is not my area of exopertise!.

I don't know if they still do this, but kilts used to be compulsory for the staff (male and female!) which matched well with the random decor!

I used to love this bar when I was a student. I recently came back 6 years later to find the layout has changed a lot!

Still a lovely bar though - great decor and decent drinks.
