Great food & service the homemade bread is wonderful and the deserts to die for,all credit must be given not only to Richard & Angela but also to the behind the scene staff in the kitchen who without doubt add to make this possibly the best fine dinning restaurant in Exeter.
We have been to this restaurant three times now and will be going back.
Angelas is open Christmas Day and we will be booking in.

The BEST Indian food in Exeter try the chicken sholay ,its fantastic and comes served on a sizzling skillet, on fire!
Their chef recently cooked at Cafe Boulevards curry & quiz night and the food was excellent Mr Uddin really is a master Indian chef.Please do another evening with Cafe Boulevard as we also liked the quiz night and more relaxed roomy atmosphere,by a regular of both restaurants.The BEST Indian food in Exeter try the chicken sholay ,its fantastic and comes served on a sizzling skillet, on fire!

Idly Googling for Indian food recently, I came across this little gem in the heart of Exeter.

Since then we have been there a few times usually Saturday evenings. Being of Asian origins and having travelled in India, I am familiar with food of the Indian sub-continent. My very English companion does love spicy food.

We are both really impressed with the food, the staff and the ambience!
The food is great!
The nan breads are particularly good.

The staff are attentive but leave you alone if you want them to.
On the downside, the wines are rather expensive and, the place being rather small, can get a bit crowded unless you time it perfectly.
But there is no irritating music and it is a great place to maintain a conversation.

Well, it is not possible to recreate the ambience of a Spanish tapas bar in the middle of Exeter.
I really haven't met a member of staff remotely Spanish!
The food is fine which of course should be one of the reasons for eating out but the ambience es muy terrible!
Hardly any room and it is muy difficil to maintain a conversation.
Service is poor with long waits.
The jugs of Sangria are possibly one of the few reasons to visit this restaurant.Well, it is not possible to recreate the ambience of a Spanish tapas bar in the middle of Exeter.

Maybe I am more used to the Esher branch, which is calm and relaxed with nicely spaced out tables but I felt the Exeter one was very cramped and whilst our waitress was sweet, it was her first night which seemed a bit unfair for a new starter, especially being so busy in there and she kept forgetting what was available .

They are apparently changing the menu shortly and as a result very limited offerings of the available steaks, for our two male steak-eating diners was not ideal....

My starter of supposed king prawns with tomato salsa was not very exciting and the prawns looked oddly flat and slightly tasteless, our guests French onion soup came out ice cold and had to go back to the kitchen!

I chose the Dory with mash, something I have eaten previously at the other branch but this was almost a different dish. Everything was virtually dumped on the plate, the fish was slightly dry, the peas were swimming in sauce and the mash far too salty, it really reminded me of frozen mash.

We skipped dessert, probably wise.

We booked a table for 15 several weeks in advance for a 40th birthday. People came from as far as The Lake District for the meal and the place was shut when we got there. We were told by a cleaner that the place was shut and the manager was supposed to have called and let people know. Which obviously they didn't. Went for a meal here with some workmates - sat upstairs in the restaurant bit and LOVED it. We got everything we ordered, freshly cooked and so much of it.. and the staff were friendly and helpful. And I was driving so stayed sober and checked the bill, and it was fine!! No it isn't the cheapest place but its worth every penny cos the food is so good. a very good place to go - being a vegetarian i was at first put off by their chicken fascination but they actually do the nicest vege burger and even better bean burgers in the city which you can choose to have in a bun or pitta and you also choose the hotness the food comes in

they have so much quality food and drink to choose from including olives, corn on the cob and a good selection of beers including my favourite superbok - there are a variety of extra sauces to choose from including my favourite xx hot which is xxx hot!

service has always been efficient (a bit too efficient for me as i like to have a few beers before eating) and the staff are very friendly

giraffe is a brilliant place to go - opposite top shop & new look so when i've had enough of looking 'round girls clothes shops with my girlfriend and daughter what a very welcome break this is

the food is always top quality although they could do with a few more vegetarian options there's plenty to choose from - they sell a good selection of beers and if beer ain't your thing they sell a very wide variety of other drinks

service has always been exceptional with the staff being friendly and good humoured

if you don't already know ask is a chain of italian restaurants - i've also been to the one in wells, somerset and both are in quite interesting buildings. This one in exeter is situated right by the cathedral and has two mains rooms to choose from both of which are well set out and spacious

you could easily miss this place - although it's in city centre it's up a side street and then up a small alley just down from the timepiece night club - gets very busy though and there are good reason's for that.
