To be fair the Cameo does target a slightly different audience than the Filmhouse but it has done so less successfully and perhaps falls a little between two stools with its selection of the more 'mainstream' releases in non-Hollywood cinema. Its main auditorium is impressive and the seating comfortable, the other screens are bijou. It has an excellent value membership scheme with a lot of worthwhile benefits and also has a small but pleasant modern bar that can get busy at weekends and has quizzes and djs too. However the cinema's existence still appears to be under threat and its future uncertain. Is there enough of an audience for two arthouse cinemas in Edinburgh? The Vue has the upper edge in my opinion, due to its better standards in furnishings and general presentation. There are 8 screens here, all showing the latest films throughout the day and into the evening. There is also always a lot of catering options, from popcorn to tacos and drinks to sweets. These have always seemed really expensive, but this is expected due to the venues â¬Ügenreâ¬"; probably worth buying snacks upfront in a supermarket. Entry is always expensive too. This Vue cinema (formerly Warner Village) Edinburgh is one of two multi-plex cinemas in the city - the other being more traditional of the two. At present time (Summer 08) there is a great deal of building going on around so allow time for any traffic problems

With walking distance of the city centre, this multiplex fetures a wide range of films in all stadium seating auditoriums which all feature digital sound. As with most Cineworld the leg room is excellent. One screen feature digital projection both in standard and 3D formats.

The concessions stand is just adjacent to the tiket desks, and both can get extremly busy at peak times. Parking is below cinema.

Cinema partakes in the Orange Wednesday promo (2tkts for price of 1), as long as you have an Orange contract phone.

Of course if your a regular cinema go-er, then the Cineworld pass is a MUST for you, as its £11.99 (less than price of 2 adult evening tickets) and allows you unlimited visits, though be warned it becomes addicitive & youll end up seeing a whole bunch of films you wouldnt normally see. This Cineworld cinema is within the Fountainpark Entretainment complex which houses bowling, bingo and restaraunts. For such a old building it still looks great after over 200 years. The inside is also looking great although this would have gone through redecorating but it still looks amazing as you walk into the warm welcoming lobby and go up the stairs to a bar and through the corridors to the stage its just so enthralling.

I feel my self getting lost in it all. The plays that are run there are well acted and the vast majority are for all ages so its a great place to take your kids. If you ever pass this historic building try take a look inside even if you dont plan on seeing anything it's fine just get yourself lost in all the architectural history. As you walk past The Royal Lyceum the first thing you notice is how great the building looks it will just draw you in. Unlike a lot of the traditional theatres around the UK that still have old small seats and have you sitting about 3 miles higher than the stage feeling vertigo as you look down, the EICC is a clean large comfortable venue with great visibility from every seat. The sound too was really good for a stand up show. We could hear everything really clearly through what appears to be a top sound system. Would have no hesitation in booking another comedy gig at the same venue. There were also plenty of staff around that were keen to help you find your seat.Having visited the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) last night for a comedy gig, I was pleasantly surprised as to how good the venue was for a live show.
