I have been twice recently after being told it changed owners, once was about two weeks ago - the food was absolutely lovely, it was perfectly cooked, the waitresses were not amazing but the bar staff were a delight (a happy young lady who had a son who was very polite and well mannered, and a young man who also seemed nice, he was making sure we were ok the entire time). Then the second time we went, the main chef wasnt there so we ordered from the bar menu which was a range of home-cooked dishes the second chef was confident doing, and we were so impressed!
I really advise anyone to go here, its a perfect little english pub, amazing food and great staff for the most of it. I asked the bar lady about the owners, its all family run apart from the waitressing. I will definately go back here again.

Great location and friendly staff. But avoid the Sunday roast dinner option at all costs as the roast potatoes were not cooked properly and almost raw on the inside; the Yorkshire pudding was cold; and the microwaved vegetables almost non existent. The vege roast option is actually a pie! Puddings were good but they could have been more generous with the custard.Great location and friendly staff. It takes me and the missus,about 20 mins in the car to get to the Bay Horse at Heath Charnock,but it is well worth the drive.We probably go about once a month and the food is always spot on,from the beer battered cod(best i've ever tasted) either as a main course for about £8.50 or on a barmcake with chips £3.50 ish,to the the chicken breast wrapped in bacon and smothered in cheese £8.50 ish(again available on a barmcake £4.00 ish) to the best sweet chicken livers I have ever tasted(£4.50ish for a starter,very filling)The sweets are also very good but we are usualy to full to try.
We sort of found this pub by chance(after taking the dog for a run up Rivington) but are so glad we did.You do have to wait a bit for your food(as is displayed on menu board,as all food is cooked to order,no frozen crap ere) but I promise you it is worth the wait.
Nice log fires to warm you up,warm friendly staff to serve you and a top chef.

Me and the wife called in tonight to enjoy the two meals for five pounds offer like we have done midweek for the past couple of weeks,when we arrived at about six pm the pub was quite busy,I ordered two drinks and two chicken burger meals and was abruptly told by the barmaid"you do know there is a thirty minute wait!") As we had just arrived I found this more than a bit snotty.We waited for 40 minutes,no food,so I ordered two large glasses of the house Chardonay,advertised behind the bar on a board @ £2.40 for a 250ml glass,when the same barmaid who served me earlier asked for £6.20(after she had poured the drinks) I questioned the price and she said "we have told the manader about it but he hasn't changed the board" I explained that that was false advertising to which she just shrugged.

I recently passed here and though we would go for a change having usually gone to The High Moor for any special meals out.
The lady who runs the place was lovely and the service couldn't be faulted. The food was lovely and beautifully presented. I do wish I hadn't had a starter though as the portions were generous and I couldn't manage a pud!

We visited the newly refurbished Beaumont for the first time one Sunday evening for a family meal with the â¬Sin-lawsâ¬. Well aware of its previous local notoriety we were a little hesitant at first but were happy to be greeted by a totally new establishment. Gone was the â¬Sflying bottleâ¬ of yesteryear and in its place, a warm and welcoming restaurant with a cosy feel, good bar, open fire and friendly staff.
From the minute we walked in the door I was happy with the feel of the place, the staff were lovely and I just felt comfortable. We managed to get a seat by the open fire which added to the atmosphere and the low lighting made it feel old world countryside but with a nice and slightly modern polished finish.
The bar had a decent selection with some lovely ale and a decent wine or two.

Food wise, the menu is mainly â¬SBritishâ¬ pub food classics with a few specials as well, there is also a 2 course starter/main or main/dessert set menu for £10 with some of the favourites such as fish and chips on offer.
The in-laws decided to opt for the 2-course menu, â¬Smumâ¬ opting for the soup of the day followed by steak with a peppercorn sauce, while â¬SDadâ¬ went for the Mushrooms to start and fish and chips for main. All was declared â¬Sgoodâ¬ and from what I could see it seemed well cooked, honest and a good portion (the battered fish in particular was a brilliant size!). The other half and I decided against a full starter (to save room for dessert!) and instead shared a garlic bread to nibble. For the mains, the lady went for the Lamb shank in what as I recall was a red wine sauce with a selection of veg and roast potatoes. Once again it was given the thumbs up. Although much the same as most â¬Spub grubâ¬ places, the lamb was still declared tasty and definitely came in a generous portion. The roasties were crisp but the veg was (as with many places) a little lacking in the freshness and variety stakes.
I decided to move away from the standard menu and order from the small separate (and well hidden) Game menu. Sadly on this occasion I wish that I hadnâ¬"t bothered and actually had to make a real complaint. I went for what the menu called something along the lines of, A â¬SVenison Steak served on a beetroot mash with a Rioja and cranberry sauceâ¬, What I actually received was something that Iâ¬"m still not entirely convinced was actually venison (or at best was a frozen low-grade cut) served atop the days left over mashed potato mixed with carrot and served not with a â¬SRioja and cranberry sauceâ¬ but rather instead with what I can only assume was Onion Bisto. Of course, this insultingly poor doppelganger didnâ¬"t go unnoticed and I had to ask for a full refund, which was graciously (and perhaps a little knowingly) given. I really do hope that this â¬Soffenceâ¬ was some sort of unfortunate extreme one-off rather than the normal but Iâ¬"d rather that theyâ¬"d have told me they couldnâ¬"t produce the dish instead of trying to manufacture a poor substitute.
For dessert we had the CrÃ¨me Brulee trifle, which although barley perceptible as â¬SCrÃ¨me bruleeâ¬ was still what we could all consider a trifle, although it did
Feel a â¬Strifleâ¬ manufactured.

Price wise, The Beumonts 2-course menu is good value at £10. The normal menu is O.K, although it depends really on which dish you order (the chicken wing starter I spied for example looked a tad stingy, whereas the lamb shank was plentiful).

My Game disaster aside, the meal went well and the friendly staff and good atmosphere made it a worth while visit.
Iâ¬"d suggest the Beaumont to families out for a meal, to those looking for an uncomplicated meal at a reasonable price and to those jus to cook that night..
I would revisit the Beaumont but Iâ¬"d stay away from the game menu and perhaps instead opt for the value on the 2/3 course menu or just maybe just stick to the â¬Ssafeâ¬ bets.

Rating: 1.00Having come across the 'NEW Golden Lion' (up the road) by chance the other week (excellent food at excellent prices and is really worth a visit), we went back to one of our old favorites.

I am really very, very sorry to say we wish we hadn't.

The food took an age to arrive (although it was empty apart from another couple) and parts of the same meal were either dried out and burnt or was cold..... not a bad trick to achieve both on the same plate!!

When we politely pointed out the problem with the food to the manageress there was a definate attitude change for the worse. The 'meal' was returned hot but even worse having been through the microwave for a few mins.... It wasn't only the food which left a bad taste !

Having spoke to friends we all tend to have the same feelings about the Dressers Arms and wont be spending our hard earned cash there until they get things sorted our properly. We popped in here last weekend on the off chance having seen the menu boards outside. All I can say is what a difference a few years made since I last went in there.

It is now under new management, (Stuart the ex manager from The Dressers Arms down the road) and all I can say is what a fantasic job he is doing. He even remembered our drinks from 2 years ago. A real Landlord.

Our food was excellent, with ample portions of well cooked homemade food. Nice to see he also uses local suppliers. The prices were fantastic with our 2 main meals for under Â£10. We all said what excellent value it was.

The beer prices were good as were soft drinks for the drivers which is a nice change.

Very impressed and we WILL be back !!

Rating: 1.00After a nice walk along the canal we came to the Top Lock. As a family we called in to have a drink on a quiet Friday afternoon with a view to eating there also. Our two 4 year olds were stood up but not running around when we were asked by a man in a rugby shirt who I can only assume had sometjing to do with the running of the pub to please keep our children under control and sitting so that they didnt knock into people with drinks.(good job i didnt tell him about the two dogs tied up outside who were possibly obstructing a wooden bench on a freezing cold day!)By the way there were about ten people at the most in the pub. Rating: 1.00Did you know there are more BAD ingredients hidden i a 6inch sub roll from Subway than in a bag of chips from the chippy? There are lots of Salt as well. Subway are slowly becoming more known in most towns now. But as KFC, McDonalds & Pizza Hut, they are a place that is better to be avoided. The meals stink when you walk past outside let alone when you are inside the place. The Yarrow Bridge is attached to a Premier Lodge hotel. It has a permanent offer of 2 meals for Â£10, which strikes a chord with all of us for a cheap and cheerful meal out, in these lean times. On arraival you choose your own table and I defy anyone to find one that is not sticky and dirty! You then choose your meal and order at the bar. The staff are exceptional, being helpful and polite, but the whole place needs a good clean. The food arrives and we end up with someones from another table. We met some friends for lunch and were told as we only wanted sandwiches we could not sit in the restaurant so we had 4 of us trying to eat off the smallest table you can imagine. The food was discusting. I ordered a beef and Peppers Pita bread which sounded really nice when it came it was cold minced beef and and soggy red peppers mixed together. You got about 3 chips in a portion. It wasn't cheap either! And to top it all off in one of the womens toilets there was poo all over the floor!I can't tell you how bad this meal was. The service is friendly and nothing seems too much trouble - add to this the offer night on a monday of 3.95 for any pizza or pasta and a fantastic wine list and you have the perfect combination for a girlie night!

The menu is vast and they do something to suit everyone, they also have some delicious desserts to tempt you, if the main course hasn't overfilled you! The service isn't rushed so you can always wait for some room in your stomach!!

I rate this pretty highly for your average pub meals. They have the usual BOGOF deals like at the main chain pubs but this is quite a big place which means that there are areas suitable fir families and kids and areas which seem popular with those who are just out for a pint.

There is a really nice decked area outside with benches so that you can sit out if the weather is up to it.

To sum up its your average chain pub that sells nice food and offers great value for money. Yes - i know - Domino's is a VERY expensive takeaway pizza. It is also the best take away pizza I've ever had and don't really mind about the price i've paid when you can watch them make and cook your pizza so you know its fresh.

Plus, last time we went to Domino's they cooked our pizza's but forgot about the chicken we had ordered. They tried to fob us off with a free drink while we waited but at that price I wasn't going to let my pizza go cold waiting for them and settle for a drink. When we said no to the drink they quite happily gave us our money back and then made all the pizza's fresh again for us!I personally love Domino's although I know a lot of people think it is over rated for what it is.

Very disappointed this time 2/2/08 food not as good . Food not as aromatic or light as before ( over fried and more like KFC). Coffee insipid and soapy.
