LaRocca is a basement night club, located in the popular Triangle area of Clifton in Bristol. It offers a fun and safe environment for late night entertainment with 2 bars and a DJ playing tunes as diverse as full on cheese through to motown!

I have been here half a dozen times on club nights. Jongleurs was host to the University Sports society nights for one academic year so I found myself going there fairly often. The drinks are fairly cheap, everytime I have been in they have cocktail menus out but are never serving them. Excuses range from how they don't have the ingredients, or because the resident cocktail maker isn't in.

The 1st floor is a bar with a small dancefloor at the back which is almost always empty save a few brave people.

The upper floor is the comedy stage which also doubles as a small dance floor with its own bar as well. I have never been to the venue to watch a comedy act.

On nights where it isn't a student night Jongleurs is always fairly empt yand fairly quite. They have nice lounge chairs if you want to have a chat with friends before moving onto some of the bigger Clubs out there.

Sometimes entry is free, and sometimes you have to pay. I wouldn't bother paying entry, might as well go into a nearby pubI have been here half a dozen times on club nights. One of the night clubs in Bristol, Oceana has something for everyone in a single club. There are 4 major zones each with their own very different decor, mood, volume an style of music. Downstairs has a big dance floor with modern music. On the first floor is a Ski-Lodge theme bar and a French boudoir style bar - both a bit quieter, so you can manage to have a decent conversation if you want. On the top floor is a big 80s style multi-coloured dance-floor, where most people tend to congregate. Most of the music is 80s, but the theme really is party music. The dance floor is always packed, and there's a great atmosphere. Also on this level is a quiet zone that looks out over the @t Bristol square - so you can get some respite from the jumping around that you'd undoubtedly be doing in the other room.

Definitely worth a try, and great place for the office party, as there's something for everyone. Lakota looks smallish from the outside but it is surprisingly large inside, spread across three floors and various rooms.

They had two nitrous bars selling balloons of different size, and a few regular bars too. They were playing reggae and dub when i went there and played some great dub remixes of the beatles and other famous bands.

The people there were mostly fun loving with a few shady types lingering about. This made a true party atmosphere, typical of most Bristol venues.

I've got past the gorillas on the door, up the stairs and the tired old red carpet, reached the top and promptly stuck to the floor! Yep, then I cant possibly be anywhere other than the Bierkeller!

Its the school holidays, theres under-age drinkers dashing about, girls are crying in the toilets over lost loves, and plastic cups are being crushed underfoot. The beer is more water and washing up liquid than alcohol, the vodka tastes like and very probably is ethanol glycol, the sound quality is poor as usual, and drunken men are attempting pole dancing! It can only be the Friday alternative music night!

Sounds like an absolute hellhole?, but wait, the 'Keller holds a special place in my heart, its one of those places I used to visit with all my friends and have a very good laugh. Its unpretentious, no real posing here, its relaxed, I cant remember the last time I even saw a fight, theres respect, its not a general meat market of men looking for an easy female, nor does anyone care how much money you have, or what car you drive.

It also has the legendary Stein nights on a Saturday night, much populated by stag parties and hen nights being served large amounts of beer.
As well as having alternative gigs by lesser known bands, and well as by-gone singers and bands who cant fill the Carling Academy anymore!

I lived in Bristol for three years and I don't think I went to any club as many times as I went to Dojos. It was the first club I went to in Bristol and it was probably the last.

The dark club holds about 2-300 people, but it feels much more intimate when you're wedged between the DJ booth and a bunch of sweaty friends going for it.

I'm not sure of all the current nights Dojos has on but I've been to drum and bass nights, hip-hop nights, funk nights and numerous house nights there.

Some of the best times I've had at Dojos have been at Groove On a student night that my friend Tommy Rio started. Other ridiculous nights there have been the Just Jack after parties that start at 4 and go until no-one can take it anymore!

The drinks are reasonably priced, the entry's rarely over a fiver and although the bouncers seem scary, they've got some good banter.
