If you want to stop for a sandwich or a more filling snack lunch this is the best place in central Bristol. Located in the main Broadmead shopping centre, but just away from the main shops, its worth walking the couple of hundred metres away from what appears to be the end of the Broadmead pedestrian walk to find the cafe.

Walk past M&S ( main entrance) with the store on your right, across the traffic lights and Cafe Amore is just down the road on the left.

Very continental in atmosphere it sells a selection of substantial sandwiches, hot food and drinks, and is also good for 'take out'

The staff undertake their duties with almost military efficiency with an attentive and friendly attitude.

My Daughter recommended this place. She is at Uni in bristol. We ordered our usual - Mocha for me and cino for the missus. We were very happy with both. I normally have Mochas in a new place just in case they flood the cino's with milk, so at least there is another flavour other than milk. The Coffee though is a very nice brew and came through the chocolate and left a fresh taste in the mouth - Well done Avenue Cafe looking forward to my visit this weekend.My Daughter recommended this place. Hatters is a great little place I have just discovered. Brought my 2 little ones after school, they soon found the box of toys! Awesome cakes, all homemade - try the brownies- best I've had in a long time!!! Nice menu, relaxed food, great for little ones too as they can just have egg & soldiers whilst I nibble on meze's...
Will return to try the place out in the evening, was told the coffee machjine is kept on all night, but I'm more inclined to try the teapot cocktails!

I have just had my first Greek Salad at Cafe Revival and it was AMAZING. Best salad I have ever had as a main meal and It will not be my last at this excellent place. I was so tasty that I am now sat in work not wanting to drink anything for fear of washing away those last flavours that linger. I have eaten here over the last 4/5 years many times, most often when I have a lunctime to myself. I can sit there and enjoy their huge stack of mags and papers with great food(Tuna Jacket was my previous favourite). The side salad they provide is always top quality, so fresh and tasty that you really want to eat it, unlike the limp garnish of some cafes. Proper honest Caff style food. Can be cold sitting outside some days as all the seating is picnic style benches and tables outside. Good for fried egg sandwiches. Often very busy.

This used to be a really good place to grab a really tasty sandwich for lunch at a reasonable price. While the price isn't that bad now for what you get it's no longer possible to get just a sandwich. Instead sandwiches now come with coleslaw, salads and crisps and are now £6-50 or more. This means that it's much more of a sit down and take your time meal rather than a quick Cafe lunch. I used to go here on lunch breaks and welcomed being able to grab my sandwich and coffee from next to the till and not take too much time. Now you have to wait for it to be brought to you with all the other items you don't want on a plate. In short it takes too long for my lunch break and I have to buy all the other bits that I don't want.

By the time I've bought a coffee too I've spent the best part of a tenner. not something I can do for lunch very often. That said the coffee is pretty good.

Also last time I was there I ordered a baguette. When it came it was about 6 inches long and looked more like an oval roll. It was not a baguette.

Bring back the value for money sandwiches! Excellent, quick service by the staff, all of whom are native speakers of English. Great, traditional food such as pie and mash, and I thoroughly recommend the locally brewed ale.

The decor is also beautifully maintained, with the sparkling white tiles on the floor ensuring a bright, light interior.

The breakfasts are also fantastic, with all ingredients sourced locally.

This is a long established 'coffee house' and sandwich temple, at the bottom of Park Street and within spitting distance of the Cathedral and College Green.
Woodes is a bit of an institution and offers a useful respite from the traffic-mad thoroughfare outside. An excellent place for a strong, early morning coffee and a bacon roll. If you're into cakes, Woodes usually has a sumptuous range of pastries, cookies, rolls and snacks. The hot chocolate also comes highly recommended.
One of the useful things about Woodes is the relative privacy inside the eating area. The way in which the tables are laid out allows for a comfortable space, where conversation are not easily overheard and where there is no pressure to vacate your table if you were to get carried away gossiping.
Where Woodes really comes into its own is if you are looking for a sandwich at lunch time. Its reputation for freshness and choice is legendary. The long, snaking queue on Park Street confirms this. If you work nearby or are short of time, the take-away side of the business is ideal. The staff here have perfected the art of 'speedy service with a smile'.

Well everybody canâ¬"t be spending all their time in bijou little back-street eateries, and if youâ¬"re doing the weekly shop, Morrisonâ¬"s cafÃ© is usually a good bet. Also, I just wrote a scathing review for the one at Cribbs Causeway, which I think is atypically bad for a Morrisonâ¬"s cafÃ©, and though this would in some way redress the balance.

So, this is what Morrisonâ¬"s supermarket cafes should be like. What Iâ¬"m recommending specifically here, and have given the rating for, are the range of all-day (from the time the cafÃ© opens till 4.30pm) cooked breakfasts. They do everything from a bacon roll to a â¬Ülight-biteâ¬" breakfast with only two or three of items, also a veggie breakfast, to breakfasts with everything - all the trimmings, including fried bread and mushrooms and hash-browns and tomato. Theyâ¬"re all good value and whoever is in charge of cooking them at this Morrisonâ¬"s knows what theyâ¬"re doing because the breakfasts are perfectly cooked, obviously by someone with a good eye for breakfast detail. Theyâ¬"re served on nice big, hot plates that keep everything warm. Great!

Surely one of the best places in the East of the city to get a good old-fashioned full English breakfast!

The Fountain cafe has recently had a spruce up which has taken away part of its rustic charm! I can only presume the door no longer creaks, the floor isnt coated in cracked lino and the tables dont wobble and no longer have those wipe clean tablecloths on!

And not here will you get those healthy breakfasts, and they'd only recently come round to the idea of a vegetarian breakfast!
But the price is also pretty impresseive, for under a fiver you could get the King breakfast, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, toast or fried bread, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and fried potato. Included in the price is a round of bread and butter and a cup of tea thats been stewed so long your spoon will stand up in it! And its all well cooked and fantastic!

Definatly not a thing to have regularly, but as a hangover cure probably one of the best around!

Beeses is a Bristol tradition. It has been there since the 1850's! Come on one of the many boat trips from town, or you can walk along the River Avon to Conham Vale and Pa Beese will come and get you in a little boat. This has always been a special place, but it has now been refitted and looks just wonderful. They have real ale and live music, a regular quiz, barbecues, functions and, perhaps best of all, they really do do cream teas. Starbucks on Park Street is one of the many chain-coffee outlets on the same road, & the best of the lot. There is a huge range of coffees, teas, iced teas, soft drinks, you name it, & a good selection of light bites â¬ sandwiches, pastries, cakes etc. It is fairly expensive for a daily take-away coffee, but a nice treat at the end of a week. It was in the news recently that Starbucks are to introduce unlimited refills for their standard coffee, which may encourage people to loiter especially during the cold winter months !
