From the moment I entered this establishment I knew I'dstruck gold. Having quickly perused the leather bound menu, I breathlessly ran outside to the carpark to collect my waiting family. Giving them the double thumbs up they enthusiastically cantered over to me; "Let's eat here" I enthused!

Upon entering, the enthusiastic bar manager gave us a guided tour of this fascinating period building, which had a warm, comforting aroma that only freshly prepared produce can provide. Guiding us seamlessly through the well appointed restaurant we selected our table and sat down. A dizzying sense of expectation had come all over us.

The menu was filled with delights from all four corners of the globe. From new British cuisine to Asian fusion this menu had it all. "How can the Chef master such diverse dishes and still maintain the same standards and quality promised by these surroundings Daddy?" asked Will, my precocious four year-old.

We didn't have to wait long for the answer as the Head chef ambled over to our table. Announcing himself to us with a confident and reassuring "hello", before bowing to us in a show of respect that is sadly missing in these days of Simon "This is my opinion" Cowell and the hooded youth playing with the Cellphones.

We were now ready to order. But despite the Chef's urging us on to partake in the Carvery option we instead decided to choose from the delightfully upholstered leather bound menus. Our table chose the shallow-fried, wholetail scampi and the rump steak(Medium rare) options after much "umming" and "ahhing". How we laughed when we realized our selections had all the makings of a MASSIVE SURF N TURF!!.

When the food arrived all our expectations went out the window. The food was delightfully presented and the attention to detail certainly took young Will's breath away as he greedily tucked into his tender rump steak. The table then fell silent as we hastily consumed this delicious fare save for the occasionally "Hmmmm" and "this meat's very tender Daddy!"

The attentive staff kept a constant watch upon us checking that we were totally satisfied - WHICH WE WERE!!!!!

With perfect timing the chef - a dynamic purveyor of mouth-watering world cuisine if ever I've seen one - approached our table. We were more than pleased congratulate him on a mission accomplished. 3 empty plates and one very satifsfied table.

As we were leaving young Katie piped up; "that chef could show that beastly Gordon "I'm in charge" Ramsay a thing or two. He was right!!!!! I would throughly recommend this pub/ restaurant to friend and foe alike and the range of world cuisine would undoubtedly delight the late Phileous Fog.

a lovely pub completely spoiled by a shef who served up a Sunday lunch where the pork was kept warm for so long that it had curled up because it was so dry, the roast potatoes were so overcooked and dry that the knife wouldn,t cut through them, the yorkshire pudding was burnt and the vegetables were so covered in oil,garlic and cloves that they were inedible.
Our dessert was so bad that we sent it back.The apple and rhubarb tasted of cloves and the so called crumble was crushed biscuit which had been stuck under a grill and burnt black then placed on top of the apple rhubarb clove mixture.
No shef in his right mind should have served that to a customer.

chav central. lots of freaks with hen nights on a budget. Chav central, you will find no normal person in this place, just chavs. If you do spot a normal person they have never been there before and will soon be leaving.

Lots of fights

Over crowded, almost got crushed walking to the bar.

It's a bar, you do not have to pay to get in but the bouncers still insist they write on you?!!

Glass ALL over the floor, I know this can't be helped but maybe it will be an idea to give plastic cups if you have mainly chavs?

A good bub with all the things a pub should have except sky sports! (But who can afford the rip off sky prices anyway) Huge garden, which ive seen won best beer garden in Bristol in the Evening Post, good pub food, decor could be updated a bit but still well maintained.They have a skittle alley and 2 pool tables in the bar - which last time i went there was a compitition taking place. Every Sunday evening I believe. Overall a fine placeA good bub with all the things a pub should have except sky sports! I love Bath Ales, but thats not the olny thing that would. Nice prices and quality food will have a major hand in it too! Service was friendly all though thier knoweldge could improve somewhat. Rating: 1.00- Chef and restaurant manager unaware of how a medium rare steak should look or taste. (On 2 occasions my steak was sent back only to return like boot leather).

- Very poor customer service, which culminated in the assistant manager accusing us of planting a hair in our food. Unprofessional, and rude.

- Location immaculate, shame about the food, service, and experience. Unfortunately if this was 12 months earlier I would have given 5* in all areas. Donâ¬"t get me wrong, I am very happy to have children in pubs â¬ I am a parent myself â¬ but only as long as they do not disturb other guests. Unfortunately my experience at this local pub was disturbed not only by a very noisy child, but also by his father who did not seem to appreciate that everyone who visits the pub is entitled to enjoy themselves, not just his family. It was even more unfortunate that the manager agreed with the father, even though it was contrary to a previous conversation we had had with the licensee on another occasion. Hmmm. Passable. Not as bad as it used to be, but a bit haphazard. Got a seat in the sun on sunday afternoon, but also got a limited menu: 'me: "2 breakfasts please", bar: "no breakfasts now', me: "what, not even this 'all day breakfast'?", bar: "no, sorry, we've only got.....x, y,z...". Only One person out of ten was happy with their meal and you cant really go wrong with a blue steak I checked the web site for offers and then booked a birthday party however when we arrived they said that the offers were not available and had not been for some time however I refered them to their own website and they said things change but the offer on their own website which i checked yesterday said it was still availble until Septmeber 2009

The service was terrible and guess what they got the bill wrong
