As you would expect, this place is a typical travelodge. The rooms are as expected and the service good enough for a reasonable price considering its brighton. But this travelodge has been put bank smack in the middle of west street, which any local would tell you is not a good place for a good nights sleep!! West street is busy night anytime of the week, with yates, wetherspoons, oceana and tru being rammed. And not much changes at the weekend other than an abundance of hen nights and stag do's. There's a reason why theres two sets of windows on the street front rooms. Expect lots of yelling, screaming, fights etc and its likely a lot of the stag do's n hen nights stay in the hotel so expect yelling in the corridors too. Not a problem if thats what your visiting brighton for, but don't expect a good nights sleep. My parents certainly didn't get one!As you would expect, this place is a typical travelodge. Kemp Townhouse is one of the best small hotels I've ever stayed in. Beautiful design, extremely comfortable, and delicious breakfasts. Great location too (quiet street near the centre of town). The owner was very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for him. Both my room and the house was spotlessly clean and well decorated/furnished. My room was warm, comfortable and well equipped with 28" TV, hot drinks, shower gel, shampoo etc and about 2 mins walk to the seafront. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful - full english, cereals, toast, juice coffee etc. All in all a bargain at Â£60 per room for the quality of my stay. The thistle hotel on the seafront near town, in brighton is a lovely glass fronted building that looks like a fine place to stay. But friends or ours stayed there a while back and to be honest it was over priced and in need of a serious make over.
Ok so they had come down to brighton on a bank holiday and had been seduced by it as people are, wanted to stay over night at the last minute and ended up at the thistle. It was the best they could get and even so was a full on Â£180 something for the one night, ok so the hotel saw them coming, they had not pre booked on the net and had to pay a much higher rate. My friend stayed here recently and said that it was wonderful. It is always difficult to know where to recommend when friends come to town but this is a diamond. The owners are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The standard of the rooms is so good. Ther are all themed and having seen my friends room I must say that for brighton they are very good in deed. The hotel is in the kemptown area and is close to a nice array of shops etc. The place has a good community feel and people here are very relaxed. Just cross across form the main busy part of brighton town centre. The Ramada is situated about 15 mins walk along the seafront from the main centre of Brighton. The walk is much nicer if you drop down onto the beach rather than walking along the busy road.
The hotel itself is large, the older more ornate part of the hotel sits right on the sea front and has rooms with sea views. There is a more modern extension to the rear of the hotel. which is where we were staying. Although our rooms didn't have sea views they were a decent size with lovely en-suites and comfortable beds.
There is a bar on the ground floor which never seemed very busy. There's also a restaurant serving evening meals, we looked at the menu and it seemed good but with all the choice of excellent restaurants in Brighton we chose to eat in town instead.

This hotel looks wonderful when you drive past and the downstairs areas almost live up to your expectations but the bedrooms are a bit tired, but this has been the case with other hiltons I have stayed at too, so no change really. This one is 4 star though and you do expect better. If you pay for an overpriced sea view room then some of them are a little better, but the dreary old rear view, or car park side rooms are quite dated and sad. Come on hilton, why dont you update this place and give people what they are paying for, a touch of class. It does some times do the odd night for Â£99 on the net, but there are other smaller hotels that have nicer rooms for the same money. this hotel is right on the sea front on the busy main road, so do not book in here if you want a quiet nights sleep. Mind you most of the hotels in brighton are on this busy sea front so you will have the same busy traffic noise till late at night. The hotel itself is old fashioned in decor and some of the basement rooms are really very dingy and musty smelling. Go for a good old sea view and book on the internet if you can to get a much much cheaper rate than if you just walk in off the street. There are worse places to stay in brighton and the breakfast is ok, but you do need to think about how much it will cost you to park your car and add this to you costs..this hotel is right on the sea front on the busy main road, so do not book in here if you want a quiet nights sleep. I stayed at the Hotel Du Vin recently on a business trip. It is situated just off the seafront by Brighton Pier, very central location.
The interior is lovely, in a refurbished old building, done up to very high standards. The theme of wine runs through the hotel (e.g. room names). The rooms themselves are spacious; the bathrooms are well equipped with a huge walk-in shower and separate bath.
Very friendly and accommodating staff.
Breakfast was nice, too. Chose from a wide variety of food from full English to different breads, fruit, cereal etc.

Rating: 1.00The Preston Park hotel is unsurprisingly right near Preston Park in Brighton. It was good value as far as hotels in Brighton go, but there are a few clear reasons. Breakfast was ten pounds a head (er, no thank you), the room was pretty damn sparse. Actually finding the room was like navigating a maze, and the walls were so thin you could hear the slightest sound from the room next door. This did not help one bit when someone decided to start wailing and playing an acoustic guitar at half three in the morning. When my boyfriend got given a night here for his birthday last year, we decided to stay in the decadent Durex suite - the "ultimate 'dirty weekend' room" according to the hotel's website! (And we would now agree ;)

The bedroom decor was red and opulent, with an 8ft round bed, mirrored ceiling - and a pole dancing area! The bathroom was huge - with a tiled plunge bath that was more than big enough for two (with double monsoon shower heads!). There is a seating area with mad seating layouts and a huge plasma TV for PS2/internet/TV/radio - although I don't think we turned that on ;) It is in the basement, with its own street entrance.

After we arrived we went out for food - lots of options nearby - then came back to the bar for cocktails. The bar isn't huge, but we still found various interesting peeps to chat with - everyone was friendly and somewhat mad!

Unfortunately we missed breakfast - at least partially due to the cocktails served above!
