Found this restaurant down a side street in the middle of Brighton, I'd never had Indonesian before but it was lovely- a bit like like thai. The food was really good ( we shared spicy beef dish and a chicken one with some sides) and a great starter (battered squid, yummy!) The service was relaxed and friendly. Ask for a table upstairs away from the big windows.

Went to a friends birthday party last night at the KOBA. I have been in a few times before, never had anything negative to say about the place.
Last night we were greeted at the front entrance politely and directed to the Ruby Room. There were two parties booked at the same time in the RR, my friend and other people were already there. A woman who was in charge of the RR came over before we had the chance to sit down and explained that we needed to be away from the seated area by a certain time for the other party. Although my friend had booked for 30 people we were given twelve seats.
We carried on with our evening, but as it got nearer to the time for the other party entering, the woman in charge kept on coming over and harassing myself and the rest of the people (her communication skills were appalling), ushering people in a rude manner. We were not left in piece for one moment, although the room was half empty we were still ushered standing in one corner of the room like cattle. The bar man was sarcastic to my friend, we were told that we could not take our drinks into the garden, for those people who wanted to enjoy their drinks with a cigarette.
Several of us complained about the woman in charge of the RR, but i doubt very much anything will be done about it.
Very disappointing indeed.

I had great time there at Red snapper waterloo street on friday. We were in the room downstairs with big group of friends..Amazing foods(Red snapper and Seabass dishes) and the service was great by the young waitress(she was the only one who served the food at our floor..I think)..Really helpful and sweet!! Excellent personal, efficient and highly informative service. I had my survey back within a couple of days and it was very detailed and they had checked everything. What a shame. Thats right, it was a shame I did not find somewhere else to have lunch. Went to Brighton to photograph a Rugby Match and had a couple of hours to spare so went to Devils Dyke and photographed the Hang Gliders/Para Gliders etc. Great fun. I wanted a spot of lunch so tried the Devils Dyke Pub, as that is where I was. Lots of customers, obviously popular. Had to order at the bar and there was about a five minute wait before I could get a drink or order my meal. The pub was busy and I was on my own and there was not tables I could see near to the bar. I was very upset when they said I need a table number before I could order. I forced the issue and they took my order and gave me a numbered spoon why I tried to find somewhere to sit. I eventually sat down down, by which time the queue for the bar was about 25 people most ordering food and was taking about 20 minutes to place your food or drink order. Not good. I ordered Smoked Haddock in a creamy cheese sauce on Cheese Mash Potato with a poached egg on top. All pretty standard but fine for lunch.
The food came out about 25 minutes later, and was hot. What I first noticed was the smoked haddock was the size of a fish finger and the skinny tail end at that. It was dried out and hard around the edges. The mash was OK, but only when I was eating it, still amazed at the poor quality of the fish, did I realise their was no poached egg.
No waitresses to be seen. I fancied another drink with the meal, but the only way to order one was to join the 20 minute queue for the bar. I decided to cut my losses and eat and leave. As I left I did decide to interupt the bar staff who were busy taking orders. I pointed out my dissatisfaction and they were not really interested. I left never to return to eat. Sandwiches and Burgers looked OK coming out, but this I am afraid is probably their limit.

Quality of the tapas varies considerably and overall it is expensive for what it is. Some of the dishes have quite meagre portions.

Rats in the kitchen and cockroaches a plenty crawling the walls, ive seen the cockroaches. someone i know did the re decoration of this restaurant putting in all the seating areas etc.. and could not belive what they sore,
i visited this person one day and whilst i was talking to him i looked up and sore a great big cockroach crawling up the wall in the restaurant area. I have been to this restaurant a few times and my god the food is awful, I have also been to thailand many times and know how good the food can be.
We went there last night and today we all have really bad food poisioning, the pad thai tasted fishy and they have a serious problem with overdosing your food with chilli.
Also the staff are all smiley to your face but watch them walk off and look pissed at having to serve you.

I had breakfast at bills today (25th September 2009) and it was terrible!!! We were a party of 9 and we went for one of my colleagues leaving do. When we arrived we were greeted by an obnoxious moron who promised that he would â¬Stake care of usâ¬ while suggesting that we sit at different tables (not so great at a leaving do) and then just standing around and doing precisely nothing. When we were eventually seated I ordered the full English breakfast and was hugely disappointed to find my bacon burnt beyond recognition and the sausage charred on one side. The tomatoes tasted like they came from a can and after picking at what was edible I found a HAIR!!! I stopped eating and didnâ¬"t complain because I really didnâ¬"t want to upset the occasion. The staff were not bad really but the guy who seated us was an a**hole! The place is really rather agreeable, pretty to look at but Iâ¬"m afraid itâ¬"s a case of form over function and I will NEVER eat there again. Itâ¬"s packed to the rafters with young, urban, hip parents, the cool crowd and old folks but in a place like Brighton where there are hundreds of restaurants I will not put myself through that again. Extremely good alternativs for breakfast are Tallulahâ¬"s, Billyâ¬"s and endless little cafes in the lanes (Inside Out Cafe does the best kippers and poached eggs). I paid but refused to let them leave a tip for the rude service, hair and burnt food. Oh and it is a chain â¬ avoid if you can!!!!

Amusing location. Mausoleum built for the affluent and cultured Sassoons - 'the Rothschilds of the East', as exotic burial place for founder of the British branch of the dynasty, Sir Albert (1818-1892). He was buried here and so was his son Sir Edward who died in 1912. But Albert's grandson Philip sold the place in the thirties, when they were reinterred in London (Willesden).

Now you can see the onion dome on the corner of the road near the hospital (which you spot at the end of the turning uphill from the seafront).

Inside it's bigger than it looks from the outside. A large round room with windows at the top of the dome. Now done up with a bar at the back, seating down the sides and an area for the band at the front near the entry door.

On the opposite wall is the stair to the cosy upstairs bar, originally the adjacent Hanbury pub.

This venue is now used for music events. I don't know how big the kitchen is, but you can hold a wedding reception here. (Anyway, in my experience caterers bring in their own pre-cooked food on vans and light up heated trays over tea lights.)

If Wetherspoons pubs took over they would have the place filled with the history of the building and the area and local characters.

But the people who run the place are friendly and cheerful. I met Daniel Watts Assistant Manager. They can tell you about the history. It is hoped that some of a grant allocated to local heritage will be used to enhance the venue and help make it more of a tourist attraction.

The drinks menu includes wines by the glass Â£4-Â£5.50, cocktails at Â£7 and Â£7.50 such as Singapore Sling, Florence Nightingale, sparkling wines by the glass such as Prosecco at Â£6, prosecco sergio rose at Â£6.50, from raboso grape, and more.
The drinks menu quotes Ernest Hemingway, 'An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time with his fools.'
