Hamilton and Kirk - Gourmet Weddings Galore by hollygwillakers

My fiance and I decided that, as we'd happily passed many of our student summers eating, drinking and making merry in Italy on travelling ahem.. study scholarships, an Italian feast was the only way to properly celebrate our big day.

Hamilton and Kirk, specialist caterers, were recommended to me by a friend who promised that they were something a little out of the ordinary.

From the outset their "can-do" attitude impressed. Italian-style banquet? Not a problem for H & K, who quickly ran up a sample menu. When we suggested some favourites that we'd like to include instead (I'm a sucker for really unusual cheeses!) they swiftly came up with a list of alternatives which we might like.

My fiance and I work abroad, although we were marrying in Ireland, and so were not in a position to sample the menu prior to the big day. Our respective parents stepped up to the plate (tee, hee!) and were served the full four course wedding feast as the sample. During their tasting, the chef came out to ensure that they were enjoying their meal (they were!). During this chat he revealed that he'd even gone to Milan to research one of the recipes. When both sets of parents were still talking about the food two weeks later, we felt we were on to a winner.

And so it proved. The wedding feast was a taste sensation, and the H & K staff capable and professional. The feeling of being in "safe hands" was accentuated by Gerry, the "bossman", himself, who appeared in the blink of an eye to deal with any difficulties or problems, and vanished just as swiftly. A notoriously "selective" guest, who had never in common knowledge failed to find fault with some aspect of a meal, no matter how divine the restaurant, came over to compliment us on the "incredible" food. Job done. Also impressive was the entirely separate meal that H & K put together for a friend of mine who had extreme diet sensitivities due to an illness.

It should be noted that H & K not only cater for weddings (in private residences), but also for a variety of other events including race days, trade shows and corporate receptions. While they were able to provide us with delicious Italian food, I understand that their repertoire is pretty extensive.

Tucked away in the Kings Hall, Hamilton and Kirk are a hidden gem. If, like me, you love food, and find the whole hotel wedding catering scene a wee tad dull (and it can, be, can't it,after wedding number six of the year?)carpe diem. Give them a call. Spuds is always the go to place for people coming out of the M Club or laverys after 1am when they are looking for some food. But believe me you will regret eating here the next morning if you could remember what it was like. It is the grubbiest take away i have ever seen and it only received 1 star for hygiene through the government regulated "Scores on the Doors" scheme. Ok you could say its ultimately about the food and not just the decor but even the food is awful. My rule of thumb is usually if a restaurant has to show its food on pictures, it should generally be avoided. There are numerous other places to eat just opposite (including a brand new burger bar!). This pizzeria is in a nice location with good staff however they do not allow advanced booking and so you will have to arrive and just try your luck! Pizzas are also very filling (very thick dough) but are extremely tasty. Agree with Neighbor. If chips weren't refried, they definitely make a good impression of last nights' refries. Couldn't hack my way through the brick-like batter to the fish, and had to wait a long time for the pleasure of the "cooked from order" stodge. Give it a miss.Agree with Neighbor. It used to be a vegetarian place upstairs and feed allcomers upstairs. Now, though it serves the full menu throughout, good vege dishes remain a speciality. Everything is really good, tasty more northern than southern Indian food and quantities plentiful (the aforementioned balti dishes are particularly large. The naan bread is pretty good, and also the matter paneer. It's also very good value. One of the best family friendly nights of entertainment available in Belfast at the moment. If you have never been to an ice hockey game you really do not know what you are missing. It is the fastest team sport in the world, with hard hitting player to player impacts, upwards of sometimes 9 or ten goals a game, great skill and tactical play and of course the part everyone talks about the possibility of a fight breaking out between players. People go to watch ice hockey for the fights and come back for the sheer fun and entertanment of the game. Speaking of entertainment on game nights , there are prizes galore given away for free. The best of which has to be the t-shirt cannon which fires Subway sandwiches and t-shirts into the crowds. The only truely cross community sport in northern ireland, their motto is "in the land of the giants everyone is equal." Go to this Pizza Hut all the time! A little short staffed a times but very good service! set in a great area with plenty of offers & deals including the lunchtime buffet deal! can have some rowdy kids in groups during the summer but quiet enough to eat in the rest of the time. good service & gorgeous food, especially the hot cookie dough dessert! great for a meal out before heading to the nearby moviehouse cinema.The staff are happy enough to put any pizza you havent been able to eat in a box to take home! great as i always order too much! also free soft drink refills! great overall, i would recommend this to any hungry pizza fan!Go to this Pizza Hut all the time!
