oisinf hit the nail on the head. The staff are extremely grumpy, and the tables are very cramped. You never feel welcome or properly greeted when you arrive there. The food is basic although you do get decent portions. I know a lot of people who love it there and a lot of students from botanic will eat there on a regular basis; Maybe it isnt just my cup of tea. I suppose if your not too fussed and you need somewhere to eat on botanic avenue then i suggest there, however i would recommend numerous other places along there such as Springsteens or madisons for a bite to eat before i would recommend maggie mays.oisinf hit the nail on the head. This used to be a nice, scruffy, quirky sort of place where you always met someone you know and the staff know your order. But was done up some years ago and the chain has grown, and its lost quite a bit of its character and charm. Worn sofas have been replaced with fixed leather seats, bright lights and mirrors, so you can hardly have a coffee without looking at yourself. The coffee is award-winning, very very good, so its probably still worth a visit. Starbucks has always had a reputation for being one of the most popular coffee places out! I have to disagree though! This Starbucks is always crammed full of people, its very busy & you have to be prepared to stand in a long queue before you get served, usually behind the person wanting a tall skinny non fat latte with extra foam & about 10 other extras! They have a good selection of teas, coffees, smoothies, milkshakes & light bites. Everytime i walk past Starbucks, there seem to be a lot of posers sitting on the many sofas at the windows hoping to be spotted having a coffee there! Also is very expensive, the coffees & drinks are distinctly average despite customers being charged so much! This place doesnt do it for me unfortunately - overpriced, overcrowded & loads of cosier places nearby you can go to!Starbucks has always had a reputation for being one of the most popular coffee places out! I absolutely love Clements - one of my favourite places to go to for a coffee morning without a doubt! Prices can be a little expensive but its definitely worth it. Order a hot chocolate & you get a cup the size of a bowl with rich indulgent hot chocolate, whipped cream & mini marshmallows! naughty but a real treat! A lot of young people usually grace clements, it has a young student vibe. Friendly & relaxed & the perfect place to take someone who is a real chocolate lover! I would recommmend this to anyone to visit! lovely selection of scones, muffins & buns too. Brilliant service from the staff who are very accomodating. This is my all-time favourite coffee shop anywhere. It's got a great atmosphere, nice music, friendly staff. The coffee comes in their own, chunky pottery which you can buy at the cafe too. The cinnamon scones are just a plate of heaven, warm and buttery and amazing on a winter's day and the sandwiches and cakes great too. It's the kind of place people just chat all afternoon on the sofa, or meet to knit or discuss new and crazy ideas. And the most amazing thing is the whole place is run as a not-for-profit, with all the takings going to social projects locally and abroad. They serve up dinner on Christmas day for people with nowhere else to go. Many of the staff are volunteers. So you just feel fantastic spending money here. Called in for a coffee, coffee was very nice indeed! Some places can be hit and miss for coffee but this was a hit. Nice bright place, sunshine floods in through big windows, papers and internet availible which is always handy while waiting for someone. Sandwiches and pastries can be bought or made up at the counter. Staff are perfectly pleasant and efficent. It would be easy to walk past as it is at a busy junction and right at the end of the street. Nice and bright, certainly worth a visit, not very busy, nice place to sit and read the paper and have a snack.Called in for a coffee, coffee was very nice indeed! This must be the busiest sandwich shop/cafe in the world! Ok, an exaggeration but the queues do stretch out the door. The queue can be offputting actually and I've gone past rather than in before because of it. However, the popularity is no doubt down to the enormous sandwiches they serve up. I'ts an idea to split one between two as they're so huge. Very extensive menu, every combination possible is catered for. Various breads, dressings etc. Seating can be cramped and as it's so busy it's not a place to kick back and chill in. Seriously you must go here to believe the quality and taste of their sandwiches, wraps etc - the guys that work there are so perfectionate about their work making sandwiches and the choice is amazing - it really is the ultimate sandwich place - i love their tuna onion and salad on granary bread or - chicken, mixed sauteed peppers, onions and cheese panni - they have lots of other really advertous choices.Seriously you must go here to believe the quality and taste of their sandwiches, wraps etc - the guys that work there are so perfectionate about their work making sandwiches and the choice is amazing - it really is the ultimate sandwich place - i love their tuna onion and salad on granary bread or - chicken, mixed sauteed peppers, onions and cheese panni - they have lots of other really advertous choices.

We go to TK One quite regularly, and we have never been disappointed yet. The food is fantastic, the portions generous and the staff are very very friendly ... and their prices are unbelievable especially if you get there before 5pm. Would recommend this place to anyone.

This beautifully restored old building can be hired to become a wonderfully atmospheric venue for evening events, both corporate and informal. David, the cafe owner, does all the hard work for you, producing anything from beautiful hand-made canapes, to hot dishes.
