The Festival Theatre in Malvern is a very good alternative ⬠the tickets can be accessed by the under 25s for £8 ⬠and the same shows often visit there. That said, Bath is a beautiful city to vist, with a host of street entertainers and sumptuous Georgian architecture. The Egg theatre and the Ustinov theatre are very good offshoots of the Theatre Royal ⬠commendably encouraging (respectively) young people and alternative, less commercial, art-house-y theatre. This is a commercial, receiving theatre ⬠which means that although it attracts big names, including Vanessa Redgrave, Brenda Blethyn, Patricia Routledge etc etc in a whole host of excellent touring shows, the theatre is in it purely for profit, meaning that the seats are highly priced.
