Agree with the previous review, this is a very cheap and not very cheerful place, with the punters to match.
Food is best avoided, but the drinks are well priced and the place does have some drinks it is hard to find anywhere else.

Tends to be full of young non-students, so never that friendly or nice an atmosphere. Lights that seems way to bright with excessively loud music for such a pub give it an unrivalled foul taste in you mouth, along with a headache. Feels more like a motorway service station restaurant that sells booze.

A posh, comfortable, clean and relaxed pub, with the atmosphere and prices suited to a more mature clientÃ¨le. Good location in town to meet up with friends and family, although no parking nearby.
Good choice of interesting and tasty meals and snacks, with very friendly and helpful staff. Sometimes even being over considerate, interrupting your meal to see if everything is okay.

Good deals can be had if you go to their website, such as 2for1, free drinks etc.

Nice bar to meet people at the start of a night out, or just before heading off to a club. Very nice selection of drinks, nice cocktails and choice of more obscure vodkas, if a bit pricey if one of your gang doesnâ¬"t have a Revs discount card.
Music can be a bit loud for chat, but this varies night to night. Nice atmosphere, if a bit crowded on the Fri and Sat nights. Less busy but still enjoyable on the student nights of Mon and Thurs.
Personal highlight is the great movies shown upstairs on the TVs, such as Independence Day, with subtitles if you get a bit bored or want something different to chat about.

At the door there is a sign saying that you need your "rainbow card"* for entry, it's upholstered in leopardprint and they serve some seriously good but mad cocktails; 2 for 1 on Fridays I believe! They serve one in particular that I remember well and have dragged people in here purely to experience; the Curly Wurly, which is a chocolatey milky cocktail with a Curly Wurly for stirring. The music is cheesy, the bar staff are friendly, and they have a drinks trolley for when you just can't quite be bothered or are unable to still walk to the bar.

A great selection of real ales and vegetarian food so damn good that even the most meat loving person is going to love it. The nachos and wedges are fantastic, proper portions and great flavours, and both work incredibly well soaking up a few pints or more. Downstairs you can catch acoustic sets, comedy, DJs and all manner of local Bath "celebrities". As far as pubs go, I'm pretty convinced that you could live in Porter quite happily. It is laid back and unpretentious, and a great place to while away an afternoon. They show sport on a projection screen, so you can avoid the soul-less chav hole of the Litten tree over the road. I do like all bar one, yes, its a chain but its a step up from your weatherspoons pubs and attacts a smarter group of people. This pub/bar offers a good choice of great wines and also some interesting largers. They do a selection of bar snacks (nuts, jelly babies, olives etc) and some tapas type dishes which you are encouraged to oder in a pick an mix style. For me they are affordable up on the upper end of what i can afford, i still pay it though as there is a good atmosphere, nearly always a seat as its so big and the service is usually good. We had lunch at the Crystal Palace Pub, sitting out in the pretty beer garden (under an umbrella as the weather was a bit dodgy).

It is a great place for a relaxing meal and was very popular the day we were there.

You order and pay at the bar, and your food is bought out to your table.

We had fish & chips and a Shepherds Pie. The food was average, but the atmosphere of the pub was good.
