Rating: 5.00I love this pub, I used to live just up the road from it as a kid and at the time it was run by an elderly couple and was very dated but it has changed a lot, I have visited several times over the last few years and the place has had a total makeover now it's very stylish and has a great atmosphere there is a front and back door and good sized care park to the rear. Outdoor seating is available. Children are welcome although it is only up to a certain time. The food is great pub food, with quite a large menu to choose from. Nothing out of the ordinary â¬ just your standard subway shop although I think all subways are overpriced but you just have to pay it! The taste of these is mouth watering, Iâ¬"m sure even if the person serving you got your order wrong you would still enjoy your sandwich! The shop in Accrington has various levels of service some days it is good and some days it is not. The last time I went in there the staff were excellent but the time before they were more interested in what music they were playing and chatting amongst themselves. It seems like you can have a good or a bad experience depending on the day you go in!Nothing out of the ordinary â¬ just your standard subway shop although I think all subways are overpriced but you just have to pay it! I have visited this KFC on a number of occasions and I am struggling to remember one time where they have got my order over one item correct. The service is usually slow and the staff look like they have had enough! Chips are usually cold and the drinks are usually only half full â¬ one time they had even run out of chicken! A chicken shop with no chicken just shows you the lunacy of the place. We usually takeaway because all the tables havenâ¬"t been cleared and cleaned because they havenâ¬"t got enough staff on! Rating: 3.00This is a grubby looking shop with cheap signs and the food isnâ¬"t much to shout about either. As you walk in you cant help but notice the salad through the glass that looks like it has been there all week and then people just coming in from the outside from doing deliveries and just help make the food without even washing their hands. The kebabs and pizzas are ok the kebabs were a bit greasy and the pizza could have done with a bit more topping but thatâ¬"s just me being fussy! A nice little pub off the main road, not accessible without a car unless your one of the 6 people that live up the road from it! Food is good, tastes good and is delivered quickly and the carvery on a Sunday is also good but I think it lacks choice although the main things are there it would be nice to see little extras like parsnips and swede. All of the staff are nice and friendly and the pub itself is comfortable for a relaxing drink after work. Rating: 1.00The magic wok was not a magical experienceâ¬¦ we went in and ordered our food and we were the only ones in there â¬ now I know why. The service was not very friendly, they took our order in a series of grunts took our money without any please or thank you and then scuttled off whilst they left their young children playing around the counter. We ordered the special chow mein and ended up with prawn chow mein! Rather than go back and complain we tried eating it but the prawns tasted disgusting. Rating: 4.00The food here is simply delicious, the best Chinese in Accrington. The food is always piping hot and the portions are big enough to feed two. The lady behind the counter is always helpful and friendly but because it is so good it is often very busy you can spend up to half an hour waiting. We usually nip to the video shop for a quick look. The menu has a wide selection of food and includes some English food although the chips arenâ¬"t the best! If you try and ring through your order first often the phone doesnâ¬"t get answered so you have no choice but to go and queue up! A nice recent edition to Accrington, The Calder has not been open that long but it looks like the type of classy bar that Accrington needs from the outside and once you go in the place has a nice relaxed atmosphere! The food is good and the service is efficient although the quiz night was a bit of a farce when we went to it! It started an hour late and then took 3 hours to complete! Thursday is a pound a pint on selected draught and gets busy which adds to the atmosphere! For many in Accrington this is the last stop on a night out because of its late (early?) opening hours! You need to get in before 1am to avoid queuing up but once in there you will struggle to move because it is so busy! The drink selection is good and the prices are the same as elsewhere in the town but make sure you donâ¬"t go in two nights in a row or even two weeks in a row because you will experience dÃ©jÃ vu. The music is the same every week and I struggle to work out why they hire a DJ. It is the same 80â¬"s music followed by newer stuff every week! This is a good place to grab a bit after a night out but I wouldnâ¬"t recommend it for anything other they do different menus that traditional takeaways, the pizzas come in 7 and 8 inch as well as the traditional 9" and 12". The food that you get from this place is good, the portion sizes are good and you get plenty of chips although you need to hurry up eating them as the go cold quite fast. Rating: 3.00We visited the walton arms for a family meal, a small place with bad lighting but the food is good. Once in you can choose where to sit but for bigger parties you are better off ringing ahead so they can organise a table for you. The selection of food is good and they even cater for the vegetarian needs of their customers. the food was delivered in good time and was hot and tasted good the service was good and its not exspensive,although i wouldn't recommend for a romantic meal its nice just if your passing!
