Where to start, took an hour to get food, my other half found a hair in the pasta, burnt kids pizza, tried to charge us extra for kids ice cream, even though they were part of kids meal, ..on the plus side, the salad was ok!

I have been in Rustico on numerous occasions and if I ever get left to choosing where to go for a meal - Rustico is my first choice....

Food is Fantastic!

In my opinion its the best restaurant in Aberdeen! As I've mentioned above, I've been in Rustico on numerous occasions and am still to be dissapointed! I'd been looking forward to eating at Carmine's for some time so was sorely disappointed this week.

When my partner and I placed our orders (both pasta dishes) we wondered why we were provided with dessert spoons. We waited for our meal with a glass of wine and what appeared to be baked offcuts of pizza dough. When our meals were served we understood the need for the dessert spoons. Both dishes consisted of mounds of pasta overcooked to blotting paper stage swimming, in my partner's instance, with undercooked veg, mine (arrabiata) with a what seemed like a barely cooked down tin of tomatoes complete with tough stalk end intact and absolutely no chilli favour. We tried our best but both dishes were frankly inedible and we complained. The Aberdonian waitress explained it was the Italian way for veg to be undercooked and Carmine chipped in that British people did not like pasta cooked al dente and if we had wanted it that way we should have asked. We were not charged and the experience ended with a brief exchange with a loyal but extremely rude waitress who invited us never to return.

My family and I visited Creperie Jacques on Saturday evening after reading their revue in our local rag a week or so ago. The service was excellent and the food even better. The Creperie has a great ambience reminding me of an authentic French Creperie, only realising we were again in Aberdeen when we stepped outside. I have visited this restaurant intermittently for many years with different friends from groups to foursomes and as a couple and this restaurant never fails. I really enjoy a restaurant where the owner takes some time to ask how you are which is the case here.

The food is always excellent value and quality and the staff are really friendly and it always seems to be a popular place for a meal. Auriga Restaurant in Aberdeen has to be the worst restaurant I have ever had the displeasure of eating in. Avoid it all costs!! Don't get me wrong the look of the restaurant is ok, and it has a nice lay out inside, but that is where the positives end. To be honest i should have picked up on the signs from the start, we were the only ones to be gracing this establishment on Easter Sunday, when everywhere else was presumably packed to the rafters. Sign number two, pictures of the food items were on the menu, thought you only got this in greasy cafes on the continent.

Anyway, we stupidly ignored all the signs, and decided to try the food. Oh how I regret that decision, I ordered chicken with black pudding in a spicy tomato sauce with home made fries. When the food came, I was amazed at the lack of finesse, the dish looked like it had been dropped on the floor, then scraped back onto the plate, expected a bit more for my £13. I tentatively tried my first mouth full, the chicken was the consistency of rubber, and appeared to have been sitting around for days, waiting for the chef to reheat it in the microwave. Upon scrapping off the foul black pudding and spicy sauce it was apparent that the whole chicken breast was dried out, and more akin to crisp than a juicy chicken breast. The apparent chips, were a dirty brown as they had obviously been cooked in month old oil. I can honestly say that I have never seen such a piece of terrible cookery in my whole life. After bringing the dire state of the meal to the attention of the waitress, she assured me that they would cook me up another one, no chance, god knows what would have arrived in front of me this time.
Now for the my girlfriends dish, my girlfriend ordered the lamb dish at an incredible £18, for this price I thought this was going to be a top class dish, Ha!! The dish itself was as badly presented as mine. The lamb was one large lump of fat drowned in a sticky brown bisto like gravy. The so called mash was obviously smash from a packet, the veg was so past itâ¬"s best it was unbelievable, the broccoli was so off it had turned yellow, yet the so called chef had the audacity to send this out for human consumption. I was so astounded that any self respecting chef could send out a such a poor meal, you can probably pick up the same quality of meat from Farmfoods for £1.99. After telling the waitress that we would rather just have the bill than risk trying to eat this disgusting food, they had the cheek to charge us for the food we obviously werenâ¬"t going to let pass our lips. Unbelievably, the manager did not even see fit to come and speak to us, or apologise for the abomination they were trying to pass off as food. I can honestly say that this is quite possibly, no definitely the worst meal I have ever seen put in front of me in a restaurant.

I know that this is rather a long winded review, but I can only say that I feel so strongly about the whole experience I had to try and convey how absolutely awful this place is, take my advice and avoid this place at all costs.

If you want speak about ciao napoli you can go on and on. It's simple the best italian restaurant in aberdeen, you feel like in italy, i readed other reviews and some were negative, two are the things, or this people dont know how to eat, or they just review for the sick of it, anyway ciao is the best restaurant where you can find the italian fell. go there especially if you want make your partner fell good, it worked wiith me after that experience my partener was really happy of the choice, and finally said yes. thank ciao napoli you are the best everIf you want speak about ciao napoli you can go on and on. My husband went to this restaurant with his work collegues and was overwhelmed with the whole experience. Then we both went for a meal and God I am definately going back again. The food is artistically placedon the plates. Extremely good flavours. Generous portions too. Table food warmers are used from starters to the main meal. The staff are so friendly and when asked give the best opinion on what side orders compliment the main dish. Over all it's the best restaurant I have been in for ages. I would go there with my friends, family, work collegues and obviously with my hubby. The place has a traditional Thai look and feel to it. Even the cutlery is traditional. Comfy seating and not over crowded. One of my favourite places to be in Aberdeen. Once seated in the welcoming comfort of the restaurant, it is so easy to forget where you are and believe you have been transported back to Italy. Real Italian food beautifully presented by real Italians.
The service is spectacular with attentive yet patient who seem only to be visible when you need them and are more than happy for you to set a leisurely pace.
The menu is varied with something for every pallet, yet not so extensive that you cant make up your mind.
The restaurant is an intimate place, ideal for dates. My husband and I love it and treat ourselves to a meal here when we can. It is well worth the price you pay for the food and the service and atmosphere make it a perfect evening.
The added bonus of the Deli means that you can enjoy the experience at lunch time or to take home that small piece of your evening with you. We have often taken home a bottle of wine so we can enjoy the experience a little longer back at home.

We popped in on a Sunday afternoon when out shopping with our Christmas vouchers. There was only a buffet option available in the middle of the afternoon (£8.95 ish per person. This wasnt quite what we had in mind but as it was cold and wet outside and the food smelled great, we were happy to go for it. All of the food on the buffet was tasty and still hot on the bain marie, the nan was good, as were popadoms / pickles. I thought the drinks were a bit pricey but would be happy to go back again. Hoping to find some improvement on La Tasca, my wife and I went to Eljo's the other night. I can't say I was impressed. I was hoping for a nice Spanish dining experience but came away thinking the owners need to put some effort and care into the whole enterprise. The food and drink was satisfactory without being exceptional, and was occasionally disappointing. It could really be a *great* restaurant with a little love and attention to authenticism.

Pros:
The service was warm, attentive and thorough. And the atmosphere is a cool and inviting a mix of modern and authentic elements.

Cons (all food related):
* My wife loved the sangria but I thought it lacked the characteristic toothsome quality of its betters.
* The mejillÃ³ns (mussels) were tough and had been cooked in chicken broth! Is this customary in Spanish cuisine? Who cooks mussels in chicken broth?!
* Our plate of mixed olives & the bread we used to sop their oil could both have been bought at Spar. At little added cost they could have served topflight Mediterranean olives and bread. We had a three course fixed price meal (@Â£30) with a group from work. The place is very modern and bright, with a nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly and it was a relaxing place to eat. The food was very tasty and well presented although I feel the size of the portions was just too small ( a number of us felt the same way), the food was high quality all the same. We got there quite late for lunch and there were still a few people sitting finishing up. Nice casual atmosphere, nice menu and well priced.
Their mussels were huge and had a great hot chilli sauce to go with them. The pizzas were lovely and crispy - just how they should be.
Food was very fresh and definately worth a return visit.
The only downside to the place was when I phoned several times to book a table for a few weeks later - nobody was capable of taking the bookingWe got there quite late for lunch and there were still a few people sitting finishing up. Nice casual atmosphere, nice menu and well priced.

I've spoken to our Consul in Edinburgh and the Ambassador in London to see if we could legaly challenge the owner for the spanish in the title, as nothing in their menu is spanish except the names of the tapas.

I do not know where the cheffs learned to cook, but what they do is anything but spanish cooking. The names are correct, but like they say in the movies "any similarity with reality is mere coincidence".

I went here for a family meal with good expectations and was very disappointed at the service. we had booked a table previous to the evening and when we arrived had to wait for 30 mins. It seemed they had over booked by the looks of things as we were not the only ones waiting! The food was average and well not worth the money , also they took ages to serve us our meal and to top it off there was a hair in one of the dishes served to us!.The staff did not seem bothered about the bad customer service and were not very polite or welcoming.I went here for a family meal with good expectations and was very disappointed at the service. we had booked a table previous to the evening and when we arrived had to wait for 30 mins. Hidden away in the unlikely location of John Street, away from Aberdeen's glamorous West End, you could be forgiven for overlooking the unassuming exterior of Christos. You'd be making the worst mistake going.

Inside the basement restaurant, the staff are almost ridiculously friendly (and playfully mad, but I like that in my wait-staff!) and the decor is warm and welcoming.

But let's get to the main event, which is undoubtedly the food that Christos serves.

My friends and I order a selection of starters and share. The Melitzanosalata is tasty, the pitta fresh and hot. The homous is flavourful. But then...the tzatsiki. Oh sweet goodness. I frankly don't have enough superlatives to describe how amazing it is. And the dolmades....very hard to get this right, but Christos' dolmades are oh so perfectly balanced in flavour, moisture and texture. If you ate nothing but the tzatsiki, dolmades and pitta from Christos for the rest of your life, you would die very, very happy.

The main course we scarce have room for, but we are determined to try. I, filthy veggie that I am, have the vegetarian mousaka. It hits all the spots. The Boy has the spanakopitta (mostly because I wanted to try it and also wanted to have the vegetarian mousaka, and I can be scary!) which I do try and it is decent. The other two have mousaka and souvlaki, which they both declare divine.

We stagger out of the restaurant carrying an extra three pounds in weight each (we might also have had a lot of wine, which could have contributed to the staggering) Did I care about my sudden weightgain? Not a bit. It was worth it for every delicious mouthful of Christos food.

Inside the basement restaurant, the staff are almost ridiculously friendly (and playfully mad, but I like that in my wait-staff!) and the decor is warm and welcoming.

But let's get to the main event, which is undoubtedly the food that Christos serves.

My friends and I order a selection of starters and share. The Melitzanosalata is tasty, the pitta fresh and hot. The homous is flavourful. But then...the tzatsiki. Oh sweet goodness. I frankly don't have enough superlatives to describe how amazing it is. And the dolmades....very hard to get this right, but Christos' dolmades are oh so perfectly balanced in flavour, moisture and texture. If you ate nothing but the tzatsiki, dolmades and pitta from Christos for the rest of your life, you would die very, very happy.

The main course we scarce have room for, but we are determined to try. I, filthy veggie that I am, have the vegetarian mousaka. It hits all the spots. The Boy has the spanakopitta (mostly because I wanted to try it and also wanted to have the vegetarian mousaka, and I can be scary!) which I do try and it is decent. The other two have mousaka and souvlaki, which they both declare divine.

We stagger out of the restaurant carrying an extra three pounds in weight each (we might also have had a lot of wine, which could have contributed to the staggering) Did I care about my sudden weightgain? Not a bit. It was worth it for every delicious mouthful of Christos food.

So, John Street. It's the new West End, foodlovers. Honest. Spread the word.

This is the â¬Sotherâ¬ fish restaurant in Aberdeen situated in the city centre and less formal than the Silver Darling Despite the the focus on fish there will be a dish on the menu for carnivores, nonetheless you would go here for the fish.

It is quite a small restaurant situated on The Green, next door to the Old Kings highway pub, and across from Cafe 52. The Green itself can be quite an attractive setting, as long as the concrete building accommodating the market is excluded from the view. On the North side of The Green the building tower up to Union Street.

In addition to the printed menu the days specials are shown on a black board. Popular dishes among the specials do tend to sell out. The last occasion I went the fish on offer included halibut, wolf fish. The wolfish came with rice and a slightly piquant sauce. I had preceded this with scallops served with blac pudding.

The atmosphere is relaxed and the service generally friendly and helpful. Though on the occasion of my most recent visit one of the staff was rather surly and brusk. Cafe 52 has the best beer garden I've found in the city yet. The Cafe is located on The Green, a quiet, mostly pedestrian cobbled street. The staff has created a great atmosphere for the beer garden using enormous planters full of bamboo and other large screening plants. Great value food during the day at 5 pounds per portion and choices are well considered and executed. More expensive at dinner-time in the restaurant itself.
