I forst went a Neros a few years back in Northern Ireland and was delighted to see that it had made it over to Aberdeen, though to my dismay I discovered that it has turned into somewhat of a starbuck/costa wannabe. Surely we donâ¬"t need another of these places, the coffee is good, but not quite starbucks and the food, smoothies and just about anything else you might want to order will cost you a small fortune. Neroâ¬"s is seriously overpriced, but as with all these en-vogue coffee establishment, the standard of food, coffee and service is generally high. This Starbucks is certainly the worst of the 4 now in Aberdeen, although the coffee and service is as good as you would expect from any starbucks the very nature of the space they have attempted to squeeze it into is what makes it so bad. The queue is always out of the door due to the tiny size of its entry level, followed by the waiting area at the coffee bar which feels like a rugby match after only 4 people are waiting. Having worked just up the road from Upperkrust I think I have sampled just about every type of sandwich and cake they have available!! The staff and so friendly and the shop always looks very clean. There are some readymade sandwiches available but they will make any combination you like, fresh to order. There are so many options as to what type of bread or rolls to have and what fillings to put in it that you might find you lunch hour is up before youâ¬"ve finished making up your mind!! As for the home bakes, what can I say they are all just delicious and taste just like my grandma used to make. For an independent shop, this second hand bookshop-cum-coffee house is a refreshing change from the usual coffee chains. A coffee shop on the ground with two floors of books above, you are invited to relax anywhere on the premises. With outdoor seating for the warmer weather, this place boasts a generous capacity which is sorely needed at the weekend, but in peak times seating is reserved for those who order more than just a coffee. Takeaway coffee is an option for people in a hurry, and soup, sandwiches and paninis are available for lunch. The tray bakes are delicious and conveniently Books & Beans features in the Spree Book with deals on hot drinks and food. Love this cafe. Definitely the best one down the beach with good food and most if not all is from organic sources. Service is good and very well set up for kids with a small play area and no frowning staff if the kids are a bit noisy.Love this cafe. I visited this cafe today and was greeted when I entered by a charming woman. She was very kind and helpful. The food was excellent, and good value for money.
