Claims to be the oldest hostelry in Aberdeen having been established in 1741. It is situated on the Green conveniently next door to Bistro Verde, and across from Cafe 52. The Green itself does not live up to its name, being largely Gray, but is an attractive â¬Spiazzaâ¬

An unpretentious and quiet pub near the West end of Union street. To describe it as unfashionable would be an understatement. The regulars tend towards elderly and male. On my last visit in mid September on a weekday evening at around 7pm there must have been about four customers.

That said i have been a frequent visitor in the past. Not for the glamour, notably lacking in this establishment, but rather for the convenient location.

In general not a place to impress a partner.An unpretentious and quiet pub near the West end of Union street. To describe it as unfashionable would be an understatement. Depending on what you're after The Grill could be the best or worst bar for you to visit on your night out.

Located on Union Street, in the heart of the city centre, it's one of Aberdeen's oldest pubs and has tried to stay close to its traditional roots. Until fairly recently it didn't even have a ladies toilet.

But now the doors are open to everyone. It has one of the cities largest collections of whiskies, all listed in a thick menu.

The collection of characters who drink there means a trip to the Grill is never less than interesting. Although, like the whiskies it sells, it won't be to everyone's taste.Depending on what you're after The Grill could be the best or worst bar for you to visit on your night out.

The Bobbin is a classic student pub with good deals on food and cheap drinks especially once the yellow discount card is used. There is almost always plenty of people inside as student are known for drinking and for not being in lectures or the library, though youâ¬"ll notice it tends to be a sport team dominated place, so look out for plenty of jocks! Other than that it can be a great place to be if there is a big match on and a sure place to meet someone you know if your currently at Aberdeen Uni. The Staff are normally pretty good. This oldie world pub is quite charming as you go down the steps into it. Unfortunately this charming first impression quickly fades as you come to realise that it is just another pub full of old things suck to the wall and rows of faded pictures of people that nobody knows. Itâ¬"s a shame that Tilted Wig has lost itâ¬"s originality and has become the same as a thousand pubs. The locals still drink there but the atmosphere is not the same and few people settle there for the night, tending to stop for one before heading into town. If you fancy a drink in Aberdeen and you don't want to go to a faceless chain bar, you should get yourself down to Basement. Situated down Windmill Brae, the slope is not for the faint hearted or the drunk and is perilous for the inebriated wearing high heels but if you must roll down the hill you are assured a decent drink (if the bouncers don't deem you too drunk, and they're friendly so unlikely unless you're passing out!). Boasting one of the greatest and cheapest cocktail lists in the North East, it caters for every taste. There is the usual array of alcoholic beverages, beer, spirits, wine, although with over 40 cocktails to chose from and cheap deals when buying in multiples of 2 I'm not sure why you'd have anything so average. Wednesday night is rock karaoke night, and the dark lighting combined with the relaxed ambience ensures inhibitions are far and few between so there is always a long list of participants- however questionable their vocal abilities are. The DJ, conveniently postitioned a stones throw opposite the bar, is open to requests but be prepared for him to laugh in your face should you request anything "pop".

Slainâ¬"s is one of my favorite places for going out drinking in Aberdeen, although the food can be a bit of a hit or a miss. The pubâ¬"s been built in an old church and you could be mistaken for thinking youâ¬"re in Frankensteinâ¬"s castle!! The whole place is decked out in Gargoyle Statues and huge gothic style seats with the toilets hidden behind bookcase (a bit of a novelty but not much fun when youâ¬"re dying for the loo and canâ¬"t find the right one). There are two bars, both well stocked with a good range of drinks and thereâ¬"s an elaborate cocktail and shooter menu to choose from. Iâ¬"ve eaten in Slainâ¬"s quite a few times and on the whole itâ¬"s been pretty good food, although thereâ¬"s been once or twice when I wasnâ¬"t overly impressed. Nice looking old country house set in large grounds, about 10mins north of Aberdeen Airport.
The company I work for hold workshops here sometimes. Some of the rooms are superb but other are barely adequate, just be sure which one you get before going. Rates are slightly above average for the area but they do a lot of discounted stays. The food is really good, especially the breakfasts. The bar is a comfortable place for a few beers but quiet. The have a sauna, solarium, Jacuzzi, Turkish steam bath, pool, loads of places to cycle & a golf course nearby if that's your thing.
All in all I can think of a lot worse places to spend company time.

A wee cosy pub near the train station, full of punters that after a full trip of graft want a fine pint or 7 before buying a few tins for the train.
Excellent staff who wear white pinnies as a uniform that does the place proud. Very clean and possibly the best pint I've had anywhere.
Come the trips between Christmas & New Year, the owner always makes a point of coming over to wish the boys well and offer a free dram.
