Located in former East-Berlin's trendy quarter Prenzlauer Berg, "Sowohl Als Auch" offers a great selection of coffees, teas as well as numerous breakfast dishes. For those who enjoy pies and cakes, "Sowohl Als Auch" also has a variety of homemade choices which range from traditional apple pie to New York cheese cake.

Despite the proximity to the hideously overpriced locations around the Kollwitzplatz, "Sowohl Als Auch" will not burst your budget and is less exposed to the common crop of tourists. However, don't expect too many native Berliners either and prepare to wait in line on sunny days if you want to sit outside. The cafÃ© is mostly frequented by Berlin's large community of students or young, relatively well-off professionals who have moved to the capital and enjoy the lively, yet unpretentious flair of the Prenzlauer Berg area.

The red striped awning is a beacon for hungry tourists looking for a nice spot to have breakfast in central Berlin. One of the nice features of Cafe Kranzler in Berlin is that it has a terrace running around the restaurant.

Breakfast buffets are not for everyone and I'm not usually a huge fan but it is good value and has a reasonable selection. If I'm honest the best part is really the balcony and the chance to sit out in the fresh air on a nice day. Oh and the menu is quite amusing too:
