Holiday Inn Tampere - Not bad, but a bit out of the way by dsample

First of all, the rooms are comfortable and spacious. I haven't tried the restaurant, since it's just another Holiday Inn, but the breakfast buffet is pretty standard hotel fare.

The hotel is situated on the way out of the main town centre, close to the railway station. You will need to walk a fair way to any good restaurants/night life as there is very little around the hotel.

They provide free cabled Internet access, but it is an extremely unstable connection and hardly usable. There are numerous WiFi Access providers (not free), but depending on your room location it can be very poor quality.

This is a modern Mediterranean and steak restaurant. I had a sirloin steak with blue cheese sauce which was very tender and perfectly cooked, the sauce was not too strong to overpower the flavour of the meat and complimented it perfectly. The side order of spiced potatoes weren't quite as special and were actually normal potatoes with a Thai-style sweet chilli sauce.

Overall I really liked the restaurant and the food, but I think I would choose a different side next time. The dÃ©cor is modern with some interesting wall art, it's bright and spacious and an overall friendly atmosphere.This is a modern Mediterranean and steak restaurant. The name stands for 2 rooms and a kitchen. There is a pure bar half (with a green sign) and an informal restaurant half (with a red sign), both very well presented inside and out. The staff are very pleasant (as always in Tampere) and attentive.

The food is fairly simple... not basic, just nice quality classics with a twist, including a couple of pasta dishes, jacket potato with smoked reindeer and grilled sandwiches. I decided to have a grilled sandwich and was pleasantly surprised when a 1ft square (at least!) sandwich appeared, all perfectly grilled and gooey inside, with nice thick bread (especially baked by a local bakery). A fantastic sandwich, which managed to beat my colleague with it's size :o)

Having stayed in this hotel a few times, this is my hotel of choice when travelling to Tampere. With free WiFi access (ask for a login at reception) and a wide selection of restaurants, you don't have to leave the hotel if it's too cold.

If you pay â¬25 for Sokos membership, I think you get â¬12 to spend each night in the various hotel restaurants, so after a couple of stays you make your money back.Having stayed in this hotel a few times, this is my hotel of choice when travelling to Tampere. Definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Tampere. I usually go there at least once each time I go to Tampere, and it's not just because of the good food. The family that run it are friendly and after going there the first time the recognised me 2 months later and even remembered what we'd talked about before.Definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Tampere.
