Reviews for Old Toad
This place is billed as an authentic English pub, and it is. I'm an emigrant to North America from the British Isles, and what I miss most are the *real* pubs, with proper pub food and the drink to go with it. Most of the 'English pubs' over here don't even come close, but the Old Toad really gets it. A great range of beers, and a menu that could belong in any pub back in England. Shepherd's pie, hotpot, fish and chips (with real mushy peas!), onion rings, chicken - and even some decent vegetarian options. All very tasty, and excellent service besides.
Just one tip, guys: change your range of dressings. Ranch, blue cheese, honey mustard et al wouldn't be seen dead on a real English pub menu, and they're not what visiting Brits want. Garlic mayonnaise, sweet chili and *especially* curry sauce - oh, and have some HP sauce on the tables along with the ketchup.
