A tiny gem in the East Village
Graffiti is a tiny restaurant, with just a few tables. However, this means very personal service. The food comes out as each dish is ready, since we were informed that the kitchen was equally small!
Refreshingly, the portions were also reasonably sized, rather than American sized - definitely erring towards quality than quantity! Certainly the menu is short and sweet - a choice of around half a dozen dishes.
The food can best be described as orginal and artisan - and the staff were keen to point out all of the ingredients and their intended effect on the palate. Certainly the food was delicious, my starter of crab rolls especially stood out, though the shilli shrimp was also fantastic.
Prices are very reasonable for food of this quality - mains are $12-15 and starters are $7, with our overall bill for three people coming to around $75.
The owner of the restaurant is supposedly a famous pastry chef - sadly we did not extend ourselves to desert! Definitely next time...
