I've been going to CCW to hear live music for a few years now. The atmosphere is eclectic and laid-back, the live music is always wonderful.
However, during my most recent visit, my friends and I were rudely approached by the owner near the end of the evening to ask why we hadn't ordered anything "except maybe a soda or two" and to inform us that we were "taking up space" in his establishment, and that "customers with dinners were standing" while we were sitting. Sorry, but I arrived before said customers, and grabbed the open table.
I had ordered a non-alcoholic drink (I was driving); my underage cousin did too; my sister and a friend didn't order anything as we were there less than 2 hours and had gone out to eat before the show. We all had driven over 45 minutes to CCW to see an old high school friend play in a band from NYC. I informed the owner that I wasn't aware of any rule that we each had to order something in order to sit and listen to the show. My friend said she had intended to break her $20 by buying a band's CD and then put her change in the tip bucket on her way out. Needless to say, she did not do so after this rude encounter.
So if you enjoy live music from various genres, and want to enjoy a meal or a few beverages too, then go. But don't think you can just go for the show, as you will be asked why you haven't ordered anything.
