Reviews for Eat-Rite Diner
Yep, as they say in this place EAT-RITE OR DON'T EAT AT ALL! It is about 60 years old and on the old Route 66 [like in the Depeche Mode song... well someone wrote it before them but I don't know who.] From the Eat-Rite you can see the St Louis Arch [Nelly!] and the Busch Stadium [Beer!] Dudes I have to be honest - this is a DINER it isn't a culinary experience but when I called my Mum from the US the first thing she asked me was "Did you eat in a diner yet?" This kind of place IS America. And this diner IS St Louis. Chingy filmed one of his videos at one of them - you know what I mean?
Anyway, we went into the Eat-Rite late at night [please YOU DO THIS TOO!] and there was a woman working there with the highest bouffant I ever saw with pins in it decorated with life sized fine metal butterflies on them. She had a bulbous tracheotomy scar. The weird freaky stuff you see about America is not weird and freaky. That IS America. We sat at the bar and I was looking over the menu. One of the guys working there who had kind of a fat tongue said "You want a Slinger?" There was also another kind of weird guy working there super shy and peering around the edge of the refrigerator at me. They both wore those white paper caps on their heads. My friend told me to get a burger and he would take care of a Slinger. My burger, coke and fries was great! What else do I eat at the diner? Pie and bottomless coffee would have been afternoon tea time or the American equivalent right? But when I saw My friend's Slinger I could not believe my eyes. Now you know where American fat bellies come from. A Slinger is: Typically two eggs, hash browns, a hamburger patty all covered in chilli. My friend didn't poo for two days. But he loved every minute of it!
Go here after a club or a party late at night for the full surreal American experience.
