  Good value and good atmosphere

  If you want a safe bet to take friends for good rustic food then Melton's Too is your banker. It's a lot less pretentious than it's sister restuarant that flatters to deceive and cannot live with the likes of J Bakers.
  
  Well above average homely food at good value prices guarantee you won't be disappointed and the simple wooden decor all add to the atmosphere and as well as wine they have draught local beer from the York Brewery so you can relax after your meal for a while in comfy chairs downstairs.

  Local food

  Quite popular and if you stick with what is on the boards - as opposed to the print menu - the food is fine for what you pay for. It is a touch dependent on just who happens to be cooking it an and this is hard to know. However, I have never had any microwave or pre-produced food here. Ingredients are fresh and often local.
  Atmosphere is Ok and it is child friendly. Could do with a better wine choice
  A considerable step up from the chain likes of Cafe Rouge et al and no more costly.
