This really could be a great place but somehow it misses the mark on food quality and service

We got a beautiful room on the parking lot side. Very calm. Room in perfect state (maybe recently refurbished?). Great bathroom, only little detail is if you are more than 1m85, then you will not fit under the shower. Helpful and considerate personnel. Child friendly.

We stayed in the Hartenberg room for 2 nights on a room-only basis to celebrate our anniversary. The room was superb with generous amounts of complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee. Massive bed, Huge bath and a shower big enough to have a party in. Just steer clear of the mini bar as it is very expensive! The car park is quite small and parking is on a first come, first served basis.

It's at a great location, away from the rush of the centre, but still within walking distance. A short walk from the station and a 5-10 minute walk into York center.

Before we arrived I was a bit worried it may be a bit snooty, but my worries soon disappeared. The staff were great and the hotel bar had a magnificent menu of drinks and lovely bar staff that didn't mind recommending drinks.
