I have been to fudies several times. They now stock some interesting food, in paticular their 'exotic meats'. I came away with some Camel meat and some Zedra steak! I think it is fantastic that we can now buy funky food up here in the North. I also think it is one of the more reasonably priced delicatessens in York. The service is excellent too, the guy behind the counter is incredably friendly. I'll be returnig very soon.

York has 'come a cropper' of late with new deli's opening by the week. Or so it seems! The latest shining foodie star is Fudies, situated a little further out of the city centre on Walmgate, Fudies is next door to a Yorky local foodie fave that is Meltons Too (the sister restaurant to Melton's) and carries forth the emphasis on local, posh and nosh to keep tums full and well rather content.

The deli itself is rather novel with a delectable range of 'sculptured' food displayed in the window - these cakes are for admiring and feasting of the eyes only! Pass on into the store and the range of cakes that are actually for purchase and scoffing are even more delicious!

Fudies is a rather fabulous little local deli, kind of reminiscent of a local butcher's I used to go to when I a mere slip of gal. The store shares the same super friendly feel and has one of those satisfying glass counters you can press your nose up against.

Fudies provides little delicacies galore, from the more difficult to get a hold of sheeps cheeses (for some reason always sold out on my visits!), to some rather novel takes on popcorn making.

My main conditions for a decent deli are the attention to the senses: So bring forth the little delightfulness to eyes and nose; the delicacy of flavor, of odour together that promise later temptations for the palate!

Oh yum.
