Reviews for Il Paradiso Del Cibo
excellent italian restaurant, it has the hustle and bustle of a real italian, its very busy and crowded(because the food is good) and lively. the atmosphere is exciting and the smell of the food will get you in the mood for an italian even if you werent in the first place (is that possible). Paradiso has the best pizzas, the base sauces are incredible and the base crisp and well baked. The service here is rapid and the pizzas stone oven baked and authentic. ive always had really good service here, they always remember me and are attentive and friendly.
This place has it all: Very good eats, wonderful authentic Italian food, a small (but perfectly formed) continental al fresco, sitting outside cafe culture, and all at a very reasonable price.
Il Paradiso is always a hive of activity. I live a mere stones throw from its doors and make the pass into Yorks main city centre on an almost daily basis. When the sun's shining there's at least two chairs parked on the pavement to soak up sunshine and take in the very opportunistic people watching potential.
If you have time, opt for a freshly made pizza. 'Homemade' and come with guranteed stomach contentment. Yum.
There's always a bustle of just-nipping-in patrons, happy and smiling staff and rapid turn around of food orders that gives the place a friendly and unique vibe. I'm so pleased York has Il Paradiso, all they need to do now is get a liscence, open in the evenings and let me sink some cocktails into the sunset hours with them.
Whilst not a dream location (no olive groves) the rest of the contentintal day-dream is authentic and exciting enough to tempt me through the doors...
A contradiction maybe, but I'm worried that this little taste of Sardinia is too cheap. Turnover = Business longevity after all. The food is remarkable - freshly made, fragrant, flavoursome and less than you could make at home probably. The tomato sauce, a staple benchmark of all Italian cooking is faultless. The pasta is made fresh to order and is light and not cloying in taste or texture. I mean - a main course for £5, wine by the glass for £2 in these dark economic times - you'd be better selling your cooker and booking a permanent table at this wonderful little artisan haunt.
It's cramped, has scatty eccentric decor but that doesn't really bother you with this standard of food. The service is what I would term aggressively courteous - in a positive way. It only opens at lunchtimes but will open especially on an evening if you have a party of 8 or more. What could be better - having a place to yourself and eating to your hearts content for probably no more than a few billion Zimbabwean dollars...!!!!
