Reviews for The Punch Bowl
nice pub to relax, with interesting surroundings, and historical background.
Hi Everyone,
Just proves what difference people do make to a visit to a pub for a meal and drink. We visited this place and a member of staff was so courteous to my wife and did his job with a sense of fun and we had a few laughs. The beer was brilliant and lager fine. The company when we visited was friendly, sociable and really good fun, not like the rowdy's found in some city centre pubs on Saturday nights. In all the experience was enjoyable and we all left to go home, rather than wanting to get away from the place. We paid the bill and left amused and wanting to return.
Enjoy
The food, drinks and atmosphere were all pleasant, however the evening was spoilt by a rude member of staff.
Not to be recommended.
I love The Punch Bowl! I first visited this lovely littel pub a couple of years back and had such a good experience, that I now visit every time I'm in York. The pub is gorgeous - very old and with a fantastic history, which you can read all about inside the pub. Although it looks small, the venue is deceptively large, with ample seating for diners. The menu is up outside, which makes you feel unrushed about deciding where to eat. The food is fantastic - the Chicken, Leek & Wiltshire Ham pie is to die for. The menu is big with lots of choice, and the meals that my friends have ordered from The Punch Bowl have all been delicious too. The price of the drinks is not excessive and the place has a wonderful atmosphere. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly too - top marks!
