This place has quickly built up a really good reputation for great live music and a bustling if occasionally crowded laid back atmosphere. There is a small downstairs open plan wooden floored bar that people cram into to watch local musicians until the wee hours - something else that is a nicely kept secret - the late hours it keeps - very hospitable. Upstairs there is a very pleasant timbered lounge with comfy seating amongst the 16th Century infrastructure. The view onto York Minster is one of the best vista's in the City.

The bar is well stocked with chilled bottles, decent wine and draught beers, inluding most recently draught imported Czech lager. Locals, students, professionals and late nighters all enjoy each others company whilst jigging or swaying to the live music! How very civilised...
