What a load of rubbish this review is. First of all when someone reviews a restaurant and then happens to mention the name of a similiar restaurant on the same high street it is clearly an untrustworthy review.

Secondly, I have been to this restaurant for 4 years on a regular basis me and my partner love the chef. I originally got introduced to the restaurant at a birthday party and our group was far from the easiest to keep happy but the restaurant kept the drinks coming and...

I originally got introduced to the restaurant at a birthday party and our group was far from the easiest to keep happy but the restaurant kept the drinks coming and the food came out quickly and always does.

Another point is that anyone who has even been to the chef knows that any week day is the best time to visit the chef because Monday-Friday is all you can eat and Saturday and Sunday is a set menu and choice is limited. On Monday to Friday you can choose anything off the menu and as much as you want and it is all delicious. I always leave stuffed and very happy. I have visited many chinese restaurants but have to say this is my favourite place, to see reviews like this one above is total rubbish.

I personally recommend the salt and peppered king prawns, chicken parcels, chicken satay, lemon chicken and the duck (Middle course) is always nice.

The drinks are always straight out the fridge and ice cold but I agree are not the cheapest but that is a small flaw to an overall superb service and high standard of food.

We visited The Chef in Worcester Park last night and what a waste of time that was. It was recommended by a friend so we booked an 8pm table. We were sat at a table with a light shinning straight over my husbands head, as he doesn't like to create a fuss we said nothing. The restaurant was about 1/3rd full, as I inspected the plates and cutlery I was seeing a very old and tired restaurant. The decoration was filthy and old too.

The menu was not laid out as you would usually expect. We had to ask for help as we wanted a mixed plate started which was not evident. We also ordered 1/4 duck, egg rice, chix noodles and a mixed sizzling satay.

Starters came quite literally dripping in oil. The chicken was re-constituted slabs, the ribs were just bones and seaweed a funky looking colour.

Duck was next, much more that 1/4 but wasn't convinced it was duck either. It was very dry with bits of uncrispy fat. We didn't finish this and were very annoyed by this point. We were drinking sparkling water at £3 a 750ml bottle. We asked for fresh glasses with Ice but he bought over 1 glass of ice with a warm bottle of water??

Main course arrived and this was the final straw... Egg-less over cooked fried rice, the saltiest noodles I have ever tasted in my life and a seafood sizzling satay which was wrong!! They offered to change it but what was the point?!

I asked to see the manager and explained to her all the problems and that we weren't prepared to eat the main course. She seemed quite annoyed that we had the cheek to complain. We had to say that we would pay for the first 2 courses but not the 3rd.

I would never return to this restaurant. The food was awful and the management even worse. I work in this industry and feel this restaurant needs a serious shake up. Surely sat night should be the busiest night of the week, I would hate to go on a Tuesday.

Save your time and money, go down the road to La mamma Italian - much nicer!

All you can eat ay? How many quality restaurants do you know that offer an all you can eat menu? Aren't they usually the struggling ones doing anything they can to get people through the door? I bet if you add up the cost of what you actully eat you pay for it twice over.

If you like eating a plate of MSG & oil, then knock yourself out and visit the chef. I know we won't be going back, I'd rather stay home and have tea and toast!

If you want quality ingrediants and good tasting Chinese food then visit The Regent in Chessington, Surrey or I recomment many others?!

Though this comment comes much later after the ones from lynchy24 and gemma_n_johnny, I had to put in my twopence worth. I eat at top class michelin restaurants in London quite a lot and although the chef isn't at all in that league, i think they serve up some rather decent grub. Gemma_n_johnny - if you like crappy, fake and caked-in-oil italian s**t then la mamma is obviously the grub of choice for folks like you. If you don't think a restaurant is decent enough for you, fair enough - get the hell out of there and don't ever come back. There's no need to give any restaurant an absolute slating. That's the kind of thing only chavs would do. Tea and toast - classy grub for chavs, obviously - stay at home, we don't
