Reviews for Hotel Du Vin

I ate lunch here in April 2009 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were courteous and professional. We had a drink in the bar beforehand (a decent selection of beers, including a lot of speciality Belgian beers and even a couple of Ringwood bitters.

The meal was very tasty, I had some lovely devilled kidneys (£7) and rib-eye steak (£20 plus some extra veg).

Didn't have much wine as I was driving but I was assured that it was very tasty. The wine list was immense.

Pricey for what is a chain but worth visiting to treat youself.

I absolutely love the hotel du vin. I was really shocked to find out about the fine from environmental health and am currently considering whether i should go back or not. The five star rating is on my previous experiences there and not based on this shocking news. The food has always been cooked to perfection. There isn't a huge choice on the menu and vegetarians probably won't be happy with the choice open to them. The bar is intimate and fantastic for dates, but not on a friday or saturday night as there is standing room only! The rooms are equally gorgeous and so luxurious you never want to leave. Unfortunately the prices are not cheap in the slightest!

I'm a strict veggie and still gave the HdV 5 stars (see below). Quality not quantity!

I can't fault this place, which is a regular treat for birthday's and other family events. Have been to two weddings there and held out son's Christening lunch there too. Even visited a friend who was staying at the hotel and loved the room.

The service and food (and of course the wine) is outstanding, but the best bit of having a meal at the HdV is before and after. Beforehand, enjoy and aperetif in the Champagne Bar, with free canapes, and afterwards, take coffee in the lounge. You can really relax there and you'll wish you'd had the foresight to book yourself a room for the night!

I love this place so much I was shocked to hear that they had been given a large fine for breach of environmental health regulations - I hope that they have pulled their socks up on this front because it would be a shame to lose such a gem in town.
