An old fashioned country-local
A local pub with a heroic reputation but this is a dying breed of pub that needs supporting.
Small, cosy, quite scruffy, blazing fire and a friendly local team lead by Viv the hostess who is a bubbly and lovable dynamo who keeps the show on the road and makes you feel welcome.
This kind of local pub is a dying breed and this is the only one for miles. It has a fine selection of local ales including Real Badger. It also serves up solid pub fayre - watch as Viv disappears to rustle up your food inbetween a good chat with whoever is in the pub.
In the summer The Cross Keys Inn is blessed with a terrific outdoor space, where you will see a host of birdwatchers, savvy walkers and locals.
Enjoy, but make an effort as this kind of pub is under pressure from changing habits and rural housing development. Pay Viv a call and keep the Cross Keys going...it is classic British Countryside culture and it needs preserving.
