The Horns at the top end of the town is a music dominated pub with a great beer garden (Heaters and massive umbrellas for our wonderful summers). Expect to catch local up and coming bands on Monday showcase nights, Wednesdays is Open Mic night and throughout the rest of the week they have some of the best tribute artists on the circuit (not your normal pub tribute acts)as well as some legendary performers on occasion. It gets very busy and depending on who is playing you may have to buy tickets in advance. The Horns has a good atmosphere and caters to an older clientle compared to the rest of the town centre, there is a great party atmosphere and if you are looking for real music The Horns is well worth a visit.

This venue has live bands and is owned by Fat Boy Slims uncle. It is good for a night out in Watford or a Sunday lunch time. It does get packed, but thats to be expected as it is a great venue.

You can only make bookings for this place on Mon-Sat. We went as a family of 4 using the Mails 4 carvery and sundaes for £20 offer. This provided great value and the bill came to under £30 with drinks. Lots of meat and vegetables. The vegetables are constantly topped up with freshly cooked ones-Roast potatoes are lovely as have the cooked around the roast flavour.

    Great Music Pub
    Current
This pub has good service and good music. It has a friendly atmosphere. This pub is by the Colloseum at the top of end of Watford Town. It has some good live music from differnt bands and has themed nights. it is usually very lively. It does get very crowded at lunchtimes and weekends. It is better since the smoking ban as it was a bit dangerous with the wedged crowd and people smoking. The atmospshere is friendly with many people dancing and singing along to the band. They also have a great DJ before and after bands and some nights it is just a disco. he does play great tunes.A real party atmopsphere.

It's only rock and roll but I like it!
    Current
With the demise of Taylors Bar this is probably the best bar in Watford for live music.

Have been there to see various bands from local artistes such as Indiana, Carrie Charles, The Staves, Wing and a Prayer to international artistes such as the Mark Morriss Band and Chas and Dave and have enjoyed every gig.

The female bar staff are lovely and drinks prices are quite reasonable too at around £3 a pint which is about average for pubs in Watford (with the exception of the Wetherspoon pubs.) There is an entertainment levy at music events.

It's a lot quieter in the daytime and is nice for a quiet afternoon pint in what is known as the Cafe Quarter area of Watford. You occasionally see the odd student or two in here on breaks from the nearby college.

Also, Very good beer garden too with heaters that was refurbished just a couple of years ago.

A place for grown ups...that rocks!
    Current
This pub is the diamond in the rough for Watford! A fantastic music pub that actually has real live bands who arent the lastest boy/girl band fixture in the charts.
The music centres around the rock/tribute genre but there have been blue grass occasions and on a Sunday lunch its a jazz fest.
Saturday night is rammed so get there early. The bouncers are friendly enough (they are dealing with grown ups rather than angst ridden Watford teenagers) but there is a policy of one in, one out so get there early.
The bar staff are very good, mainly women in tight t-shirts (so expect your other half to be more than happy to get the drinks)they are fast, efficient and serve you with a smile - though expect to shout when the bands are on.
The pub does have a late licence but the bands do finish earlier than the licence; a great time to catch up with all the gossip and to have a few more drinks.
The ladies toilets are clean and well maintained, which is truly amazing and a real blessing.
I think the pub does food, a roast on a Sunday (to accompany the jazz) but if you are looking to have a great night out with decent beer and a happy, friendly rocking crowd you would be hard pushed to beat the Horns...ROCK ON!
