My expectations where high. Thackerays once had a michelin star and having worked in that enviroment I knew what was to be expected. Finding parking was hard, but as we approached the building from the ouside it was exceptional. The building has amazing character and is in lovely surroundings. Apon arrival we were shown to are table and hand the menu's. The first thing I noticed is that the amazing character on the outside was not inside. They had painted everything, even the beams and it looked so clinical, trying to modernise a building with this history and beauty was wrong. We had a glass of champagne and ordered water. I order the scallops for starter and to be honest, there were too many favours going on and not the right combinations. I love scallops but these where diappointing. I misread the menu and expected a fillet of beef but it was braised and again came with too many of the wrong vegetable and the sauce did not compliment the beef. For both of the main meals ordered one being the beef, the other fish, the same combination of vegetable were given, so no thought went in there. After this we order one dessert to share, just to see what would arrive and that was pretty non eventful as well. The coffee came with petit fours which either had no favour or just didn't look appealing, so we left most of them and the last thing was the bill which we knew would be high but it was still a surprise, £130 not well spent and a trip we will never make again!

This restaurant is difficult to find close parking for but make the effort and you will be rewarded.The food is well prepared,clean and simple.Nouvelle cusine in style the quality ingredients shine through.The service is good and the wine list is quite extensive.
Not a cheap meal but definitely good value for money
