  This pub is named after the 'steam packet' boats that used to bring mail up to Totnes, Totnes is the furthest in land you can go by boat due to wiers etc above the town.
  
  Tends to be a summer drinking venue for us as there is a huge outdoor area with a fabulous view over the rive and Vire Island.
  
  Just a normal pub really, normal pub prices for drinks etc.
  
  Friendly staff.
  
  In recent years they have built on a large conservatory style dining room which again offers views of the river and Vire Island.
  
  Have had lunch there a few times and have always been pleased. Eaten the evening there once and was hugely dissapointed, I would waste my money eating there again.

  Beautiful setting

  This is a fabulous place to grab a drink or something to eat. It is right on the river in Totnes and Totnes is a beautiful place. I last visited there on a Tuesday when they have the Victorian market and it was a glorious sunny day. The market was just across from the Steam packet and when we sat outside and had a drink we could watch all the fun across the river. Totnes is always good for people watching anyway. The food at the Steam Packet is good and not over priced and the drinks are not expensive either though perhaps you pay a tiny bit more for the fantastic setting! Lovely to sit by the river and just relax.

  Pub on the Quay

  Race to get there first - lovely pub, lovely grub, splendid setting and what's more, it's in Totnes - amazingly beautiful market town at the tidal head of the River Dart in Devon. Totnes is a mustn't be missed location - one of the top venues in the country according to a recent national press article - it's full of highly individual and some quite quirky shops, so why not spend some time near the lovely river and grab a bite to eat at the Steam Packet?
