Reviews for Empire Cinema
The Empire cinema Sunderland is located in the town centre it is very close to the shops and only a few minutes walking distance from the train and bus stands. It is close to a number of restaurants including Nandos ad Frankie & Benny’s, they also offer free parking to customers. I have only bee to this cinema at quieter times but found staff to be attentive, there is the usual cinema food sweets and drinks. There is a total of 12 screens at a vip room located in 4 of these. I had a good all round experience at this cinema and would recommend it.
I am a regular visitor of this cinema and I find that the service quality I have received is inconsistent. Sometimes the staff at the food section seemed to be just taking their time in serving customers and sometimes the staff were attentive and efficient. It is good to know that you could purchase the movie ticket from either the box office or from the food section. It was nice to be able to get free parking when going for a picture at this cinema. In terms of the screening, I find that the advertising before the actual film could sometimes last as long as 20 minutes. The seats are comfortable and there are always plenty of spaces to choose from.
Part of the recently revitalised area of Sunderland, the Empire cinema is part of LimeLight Leisure Complex which features restaraunts & a Casino
Formally a Cineworld Cinema, it features 12 screens all with Stadium Seating and Digital Sound. 6 Screens feature Dolby EX Sound and one has digital projetion facilities.
Seating and leg room are very good. Four of the screens feature a VIP room which you have your own enclosed luxury seating area & sound system. In addition there is a bar on 2nd level.
You can get your parking validated in cinema (with a purchase) at the multistory car park which is opposite the main entrance of Empire Cinema.
Tuesdays are currently £3.95 all day all tickets but check website for times and any price changes
Local restaurants include Frankie & Benny’s, Nandos, Panda Oriental Buffet, McDonalds and newly opened Sports Bar.
Nearest cash dispenser is at the Bank of Scotland about 4-minutes walk from the Cinema.
