After being hailed by the guy in full Indian regalia outside, we went through the courtyard to the first floor restaurant. Bustling restaurant and service was ok despite being full. Food was fine albeit decor a little tired.
The thing that did it for us was a couple of utterly inebriated young women swearing and cursing at the top of the stairs looking to sit down.
Sorry - but you have to take control of the situation and deal with these people - you dont let these clowns in...

Sorry - but you have to take control of the situation and deal with these people - you dont let these clowns in in the first place. Other guests were suitably disgusted despite some clown next to us goading these women on.
We will go back but it will be much earlier to avoid this nonsense. Shame as we liked the food but there are better establishments that dont put up with this in the first place.

You actually went to the Maharajah, which is a completely different restaurant to the one you've done the review for.

My mistake.

I have deleted the review accordingly.

Will visit you and look forward to it.

Apologies for putting your name to the wrong restaurant.

I moved to Stevenage around three year ago. I've tried many of the indian restaurants in and around Stevenage. I liked the Bombay, the Mohan and the Bengle diner in the old town area but found the Taj Mahol far far better. The food melts in your mouth and is so delicious. I have never had a problem the next day either. The service too, was far better.
I personally think that this place could be the best in hertfordshire. It's my new favourite, and I'm sure I won't find a place this good again.

The best Indian food in Stevenage, especially if you like garlic dishes.
