Don't get too carried away by the rave reviews - it's OK but no more. There must be half a dozen restaurants serving food as good or better within 10 miles (unless you particularly like dishes made with cheap frozen chicken tasting mainly of salt). It's pricey too. The place is nice, though - smart and well maintained.

I have eaten in tens on Indian restaurants across the country and Devdas definately sets the standard. The menu is is exhilirating - yes you can have the same old classic indian dishes, but if you want to be wowed then go for something more interesting. Most of the special dishes I have never seen before and many are from specific areas in india and its surroundings. My personal favourite is Jhinga Naga - this dish is not for people that don't like intense flavour, it is wihout doubt the most delicious dish I have eaten (tandoori prawns in a hot intense sauce).

I can see why some people on here have mentioned the service, one of the waiters in the restaurant can appear quite rude on the odd occassion, however the food always bought to the table on time and in perfect order. On the whole they are cuteous and you can tell that they are proud and confident about the food they are serving.

Try it! (but make sure you book!)

Sadly I've had to change my review. I still think that the food is really good; but the service that we got when we ordered take away recently was downright rude and aggressive.

Sadly, we won't be going here again and have had to give Devdas 1 star.

We are regular customers at Devdas at the upper end of St Peters Street, St Albans and find the place simply excellent. The service, quality of food and its presentation - and the staff are superb. We have taken the trouble to meet the chefs in the kitchen who do a great job and the ambience of the place is very relaxng. The staff take great care in making the service remembered and valued. They are always ready to gently suggest any options to explore the menu and we have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the restaurant. Enjoy.....

Unbelievable is the only word to describe the feeling left upon me by this great restaurant! From the service to the food, everything about it was top notch! From the moment we stepped into the restaurant we were treated like royalty and by the end of it were left speechless. This restaurant provided something extra special in terms of the quality of food. It isn't your usual curry house, which you notice straight away as you walk into the restaurant. From the art deco to the classy interior your left feeling spoilt by the end of the night. For the luxury of your surroundings and service you would think that the cost would also be deer but quite the opposite. A restaurant like this in london would set you back atleast £50 a head, but we walked away having had a superb meal for less than £50 for the both of us. There's a marvellous water feature aswell which adds to the feeling pure class that is encapsulated within this establishment. You must visit this restaurant atleast once if you live nearby. Im very very surprised there aren't more reviews around because this is most certainly my new favourite restaurant!
