last time i was there it was about september 08 and the food was awful vowed not to go back again, then i seen a deal in the local rag 2 for £5.95 on mondays so i gave it a try. as i went in a pleasant lad was behind the bar telling me that the old chef was back , i hoped it wasnt the last one that was there ,but it was the chef before him now i knew i was getting a good meal. there was loads to choose from,mince and dumplings,sausage and liver,beef,pork,turkey,lamb and chicken,i choose the mince and dumplings.i helped my self to the veg(plenty to choose from)and the yorkshire puddings were big and crispy(soggy on the bottom)which i liked very much.the gravy was nice and beefy how it should be.this has to be the best dinner i had in ages.going to try the lamb next week,the lady at the next table told me that it just melted in your mouth.a big thank you to the chef for bringing good food back to the office or even better

The Office just to be our favourite carvery pub. It was dirt cheap, the staff were friendly and the food was amazing. It was an undiscovered jewel in south shields with a chef who obviously knew how to cook great food. Unfortunately, the last few times we have been there it was disappointing. The meat used to be soft and fell apart when you cut it, but no longer. I used to love the carrots, soft but with lots of taste still, but this time they seemed to be tinned carrots and cold. The gravy was too thin and also cold. There were no yorkshire puddings or roast potatoes ready. The atmosphere was dull as most people discussed how bad the meals were now. The service was as friendly as ever though so I can't fault them there - they did seem to be trying but obviously just can't live up to the standards they used to have. Disappointing.
