Went here for my 40th birthday while on a trip down to Sheffield from Edinburgh.

Food - well cooked, tasty and good choice.

Drink - had a watermelon vodka cocktail - fab!!
House champagne was good too!

Service - quite attentive - one problem was they didn't clear our table of empty glasses and the table was quite full - especially as we had champagne and wine.

Bill - we checked our bill at the end of the night, only because the table next to us had had a problem with theirs. We found that we had been overcharged for an extra main course, we were told they had a problem with their till but if this was the case shouldn't someone be double checking the bill before given to customers?

Nice touch - we were given a shot glass with teeny spoons, which contained a dessert and not a drink.

Overall worth a visit - but check your bill!!

The Pie Night is a must and offers the best veggie pie in the Sheffield area. The food is of good standard and is fresh. The food tastes clean and is not clogged up with oil or cream unlike most veggie options. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed and its ideal for the lone business traveller (including females) or larger groups. It offers an excellent choice of drinks and has drinks which not even the likes of the St Pauls carries... which is staying something. I would recommend a visit whether for Pie Night or otherwise, the food is good and varied.

Food quality and cooking very good, fixed price menu (£15 for 3 courses) particularly good Wed & Thur. Recipes are imaginative and well executed, service is informed, good humoured, and observant. Restaurant is well patronised from 6.30 onwards with a good atmosphere. Wines are well priced and cocktails are also good value. The very reasonable cost of dining at Silversmiths makes the whole experience not only enjoyable but also financially painless!

Disappointed and upset... 13th April 2009

Having been there on a girl’s night out we were so disappointed and upset. We found the food ok but overrated and overpriced and didn’t like the service, my girlfriends felt pressured to order more drinks and the staff kept coming back asking us if we wanted more drinks so it was uncomfortable.

We won’t be going back. Emailed them about this and no response to both my emails, so that is why I am posting.

Went there today before going to the theatre, food was fantastic, service was second to none.
We will be back and we will recommend Silversmiths to our friends.

I've had a couple of lovely meals here now. Very intimate, and stands alone in sheffield for a having a 'special little secret feel'. Food is excellent (Gordon Ramsay's touch?, but it was always good when it was a tapas bar). If you really want to go for it get stuck into the fresh fruit cocktails.
