Fine Dining in Kew
The Glasshouse is a small, Michelin starred restaurant located in Kew Village, just next to Kew Gardens station. It has a warm, relaxed atmosphere and friendly but very professional service. During our visit we found the sommelier particularly helpful and loved the wine that he recommended. The three course menu was 35 per person and we were well and truly stuffed full by the end of it!
To start, our table tried the Crisp Seabass and deep fried prawn with white polenta, buttered cockles and basil - the combination of flavours were great; the Warm salad of squab pigeon with deep fried truffle egg; and the Coq au vin raviolo with portabello mushroom and red wine bouillon. All dishes were very good.
Main courses were also excellent. Two of our party shared the Chateaubriand with hand cut chips, grill garnish and barnaise sauce. The meat just melted in your mouth and the chips were declared some of the best ever!
Although we were all too full for dessert we somehow found room as they sounded great. The highlight of the ones we tried was the Warm chocolate & pecan brownie with choc chip ice cream and this smooth, dark chocolate sauce. It was very delicious but a huge serve - definitely one to share next time.
