Reviews for Strada

Went here recently on a Saturday night. No booking so appreciated the manager fitting us in after 40 mins but sadly soon wished we hadn't bothered.

The food was mediocre - steak overcooked and there were no condiments - at all. We were offered mustard salad dressing with our dry steak as there was no mustard/mayo/ketchup in the house. Wine was overpriced for what it was.

Asked four times for a jug of water and still forgotten.

Strada should offer better but sadly doesn't and this is the third time I've been let down by different branches of the chain. But they don't seem to care and make little effort to encourage customer loyalty.

I have learned my lesson and will not eat here again in any of its locations.

Thoroughly disappointing

The food here, I had a lamb shank with mash, is brilliant, delicious melt in the mouth meat. The staff were so friendly that by the end of the meal we gave the waitress a piece of the birthday cake we had bright with us. However the place itself had much to be desired. The music was loud and repetitive making conversation impossible in the cramped environment. Moreover the seating was not comfortable enough for the long amount of time spent in the restaurant. NOt only this but the bathroom are at the top of a long steep flight of stairs. I came to strada with my grandparents who had enjoyed their meal at strada on the south bank in central london. This, thought the food was good and the service excellent, was a much less enjoyable experience for a them as elderly people though I too found the music and close proximity of the other tables very irritating too.

I do really love Strada - their food is fresh and inviting, and generally excellent value for money. This visit was a disappointment, however. My linguine was rather dull, and I thought that my chocolate pudding was positively stale! (I have had this pudding at other Strada restaurants, and it is normally delicious. It is also possible that it was not stale, but had simply been cooked wrongly).

One important factor if visiting this restaurant at present (and this review is posted on 22nd September 2008) - Richmond town centre is hell on earth at the present due to road works, and you are well advised to park and walk! Hill Street itself is closed in one direction.

Strada is a fantastic Italian chain of restaurants. Its pizzas which are cooked in the wood oven ‘forno a legna’ are really extremely tasty and its other dishes are all great too. I like that they offer you free filtered water which you don’t have to pay for, it makes a change from all the mineral water places charge high prices for. The pesto pizza breads as a starter are my favourite, I always have them and would recommend them to all – even if you’re going to have a pizza for your main course! Strada is a great chain and this restaurant is no exception.
