Reviews for Lal Akash
Lal Akash always used to be one of those 'hidden gems'; the place was a dump (and still is) inside but the food and service were glorious.

My girlfriend's chicken korma had been cooked to within an inch of its life, so much so that the meat was inedible. The sauce - which in the past has been delicate, creamy and full of flavour - was just a greasy mess. My chicken jalfrezi was undercooked and had no flavour apart from intense chilli heat - fam spicier than a jalfrezi should have been.
The naans were soggy and the onion bhajis were more oily than BP and Shell put together - pretty nasty.
We left most of our meals and now use an alternative restaurant - I think this place has gone well downhill although we never saw any chavs in here.Shame really, because this used to be the best Indian in Reigate - now if you ask me, it's the worst.
I have eaten here once before and needless to say it has gone down hill. A restaurant for the Chavs of reigate - noisey, fellow diners with hoodies up whilst eating -and to top it off food poisoning afterwards NICE!!
If you want a wonderful meal go to the Ghurkha Kitchen - chavs stay at home though please.
I've had a curry at Lal Akash in Reigate a few times and I've been dissapointed every time. The most dissapointing was a takeaway whereby the peschwari naan was a pitta bread sprinkled with dessicated coconut and the vindaloo was "not even as hot as my three year old daughters toothpaste" to quote a colleague. Eating in the restaurant wasn't much different. The kitchen staff were friendly but the waiter appeared to be completely indifferent to our needs and needed prompting to replace our empty beers a few times. Overall, this is an OK place to go after a few jars at the pub, but if you're after a proper curry, try another restaurant.
Lal Akash is our local curry house, the place we go when we've had a bad day at work and just want to tuck into a big plate of something tasty. Service can be slightly surly or very friendly depending on who you get, but they deal well with large (drunk) groups, the portions are a decent size and the curries are a reliably decent standard. It's not posh like Clove, but it certainly does the job.
A particular favourite of mine is the Parsi Dansak, a Persian dish with lentils.
